14-40 has been a pretty exciting week with many newbies and climbers,

what remains now is gonna be pretty boring

Shouse David Guetta remix and Ewan McVicar leading to perhaps a revival of less poppy dance this decade too?

Yesssss here for this!

Biography

Becky Hill

With her highly resonant voice and R&B-influenced style, Becky Hill first came to the public's attention competing on series one of The Voice UK. Ultimately reaching the show's semifinal round, Hill emerged a fan favorite and became the first Voice UK contestant to score a number one single when "Gecko (Overdrive)," her collaboration with Dutch EDM star Oliver Heldens, topped the U.K. singles chart in June 2014.

Born on February 14, 1994 in Bewdley, Worcestershire, England, Hill was no stranger to music when she first auditioned for the then new The Voice UK in 2012. As a teenager, she had sung with the acoustic rock & soul group Shaking Trees, which created some local buzz and received several plays on BBC Radio. On The Voice UK she made it to the semifinal with her powerful renditions of R&B songs by the likes of John Legend and others, before being eliminated. By her own admission, she was a novice in the music industry game and it took her 18 months to finally get a record deal. In the meantime, however, her sultry, soulful, older-than-her-years voice was highly sought-after by dance artists looking for feature vocalists. Her first recorded appearance, on British drum'n'bass artist Wilkinson's single "Afterglow," went to number eight on the U.K. singles chart. She then appeared on Rudimental's single "Powerless," singing with them at several U.K. festivals in 2013, including Glastonbury.

Following her success with Heldens, Hill worked extensively with London-based dance producer MNEK and issued her debut solo single, "Caution to the Wind." It showcased a shift toward a more electronica-influenced sound, with twinkling melodies and production reminiscent of Four Tet. The Eko EP appeared in 2017, and included the single "Unpredictable." The single "Sunrise in the East" followed a year later. In 2019, Hill issued a pair of upbeat singles, "I Could Get Used to This," which featured Weiss, and "Wish You Well," which featured Sigala. - Apple Music

Topic

German songwriter, producer, and DJ Topic refers to his sound as "melancholic dance music." His songs typically combine striding house beats and light guitar melodies with yearning lyrics about heartache as well as dancefloor escapism. He made his full-length debut with 2015's Miles, and later scored a worldwide hit with 2019's "Breaking Me," featuring A7S. Tobias Topic was born in Solingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in 1992. He began producing music using a digital audio workstation when he was 16. Using social media to launch his career, he released his first single, "Light It Up" (with vocalist Jona Selle), in 2014. His debut album, Miles, appeared in 2015, containing several additional singles, including "Home" (featuring Nico Santos), which was certified platinum in Germany and Australia. He continued releasing additional charting singles such as 2016's "Find You" (with Jake Reese), 2017's "Break My Habits," and 2018's "Perfect" (with former Fifth Harmony singer Ally Brooke), which became his first song to reach the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart. Topic's first major worldwide hit, "Breaking Me," featuring Swedish singer A7S (Alexander Tidebrink), was released during the final weeks of 2019, and hit the Top Ten in two dozen countries by the end of 2020. Topic reunited with Santos on the 2020 single "Like I Love You," and collaborated with A7S and rapper Lil Baby on "Why Do You Lie to Me." - Apple Music

Biography

Shepherd's Bush-based Central Cee made his first steps in music toward the end of the 2010s, debuting with 2017's Auto-Tune-laced "Over You." His early career was characterized by the D-Block Europe-esque melodic trap of the era, with Cee opting for bouncy instrumentals and Auto-Tune-driven melodies on tracks like "TRANSITION" and "JUGG." However, in 2020 the rapper found himself drawn to a different style entirely -- U.K. drill. Kicking off the year with the guitar-laden "Day in the Life," Cee's skating flows proved a natural match for the genre's faster-paced sonics, which he continued to develop with the gritty "Molly" and a bold showing on Kenny Allstar's Mad About Bars. All prior successes were eclipsed in October of that year, though, when Cee released his breakout hit, "Loading." Landing at number 19 on the U.K. charts, the track secured the rapper his first Top 40 hit with its inventive drill production, active flows, and a magnetic performance on the mic. This success followed him into early 2021: January's "Pinging (6 Figures)" offered a more traditional take on drill, while February's "Commitment Issues" secured Cee a number nine spot on the U.K. charts. His debut mixtape, Wild West, arrived that March. Debuting at number two in the U.K., the tape expanded Cee's vivid drill sound with forward-thinking production and a wider range of narratives. - Apple Music

I feel vaguely less irritated by this Central Cee song now than when I first heard it lmao.

Still think PinkPanthress was robbed!

Poor Becky spending a month at #11 :drama:

Hope she gets another week at #11 though because then she would have the record #11 stay which would be iconic for Becky!
