November 12, 20214 yr 27 | 22 | 3rd week Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd Moth To A Flame 3rd single from Paradise Again Released: 22nd October 2021 Label: SSA Recording Chart Statistics NE (04/11/2021) | 15-22-27 Sales: 30k+ Certification: - Status: Standard Chart Ratio 17 Sales 21 Audio Streaming 42 Video Streaming Video u9n7Cw-4_HQ Biography Swedish House Mafia No artists represent the exuberance of the 2010s’ EDM boom quite like Swedish House Mafia. Stockholm natives Steve Angello, Axwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso only played as a trio for a few years, but they burned brighter than virtually any of their main-stage peers, perfecting a winning fusion of radio-ready choruses and earthshaking drops—and then pulling the plug at their peak. In the circus-like atmosphere of the EDM scene, they were living proof of an adage often attributed to P.T. Barnum: “Always leave them wanting more.” All three DJs cut their teeth in the European progressive-house scene of the 2000s, and by 2007, they were informally calling themselves Swedish House Mafia. But not until 2010 did they release their first single under the name: “One,” an attention-grabbing epic whose Pharrell feature testified to the trio’s aim to conquer pop along with dance music. The next two years were a whirlwind of supersized hooks, armor-plated snares, and cheekily grandiose anthems like “Save the World,” a song that epitomized the heart-on-sleeve yearning of early-2010s EDM. Then, in 2012, they announced their farewell tour, which took them from autumn into the spring of 2013. They left behind the mix album Until One and the singles collection Until Now, the closest they came to releasing a proper full-length, along with two live albums and two documentary films. Five years later, the three reunited to headline Ultra Music Festival, teasing the possibility of future work together—and suggesting that as long as house music rules clubland, there’s a chance that Swedish House Mafia might return to reclaim their throne. - Apple Music The Weeknd Nobody makes feeling bad sound as good as The Weeknd. Even the singer’s sunniest tracks (“Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy”) feel anchored by darkness—the sense that pleasure is pain and beauty decays and you can’t have the night without the morning after. The brainchild of Toronto singer Abel Tesfaye, the project took off in 2011 with a string of mixtapes (later collected as 2012’s Trilogy) that forged cavernous, falsetto-driven R&B with narratives drenched in drugs, sex, and other regrettable decisions—a sound both sensuous and detached, featherlight and dead heavy. One of the earliest musicians to find his footing on the internet, Tesfaye originally offered his music through YouTube and free downloads, a move that felt radical then but is common now. Ethiopian by heritage (his parents immigrated to Canada in the late ’80s, just before he was born), Tesfaye—out from behind the mask of making art online—has since come to represent the changing face of Toronto, rooting himself not just in an international musical community but in a specific diasporic experience. Like the work of collaborator Lana Del Rey or early booster (and fellow Toronto native) Drake, Tesfaye’s music has become a symbol of hedonism pushed to bleak excess, with a series of albums—including 2015’s Grammy-winning Beauty Behind the Madness, 2016’s multiplatinum Starboy, and 2020’s dense and atmospheric After Hours—whose narrators can’t seem to say no even if they hate themselves for it later. And though his music has gotten a little brighter over time, the prevailing mood remains heavy, even unsettling—the ride you want more of even when you’ve had too much. Speaking to Apple Music about the persona behind his songs, Tesfaye said, “I’m a chill person. That guy is who I am, but it is who I am to myself and in my writing. Sometimes you take him and then you create more, and then it becomes this beast. You add more to him, and then it’s uncontrollable—its own character. It’s like Scarface, the villain: It’s horrible, but you can’t stop looking at it.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Swedish House Mafia 2010 07 One (Your Name) (feat. Instead, the low-key R&B powerhouse finds solace in the studio, where angst, lust, and self-doubt morph into mesmerizing confessionals. For Walker, putting it all out there is healing: “Pro Tools sessions are my diary pages,” she tells Apple Music in Up Next: Summer Walker, the documentary film about her ascent. “That’s why a lot of my songs are emotional.” As a child growing up in Atlanta (where she was born in 1996), Walker would wait until her mom went to bed before going into the bathroom to record videos of herself singing songs and playing guitar. When she posted those clips on social media, the reaction was immediate—she had something. Her songwriting style—which she explored on her first two releases, Last Day of Summer and CLEAR—is both mysterious and bare-bones; the more she reveals about her heart and mind, the more captivating she becomes. “I don’t really need the pain/But I love to feel the pain,” she admits on “Deep,” a song that wrestles to distinguish between sex and love. To listen is to witness Walker working it all out in real time. - Apple Music SZA "Solána Rowe had a weird time growing up. Jersey suburbs, orthodox Muslim household, parents working their way through corporate America, wanted to fit in, couldn’t. She got bullied for wearing a hijab after 9/11 and became the kind of teenager who, on at least one occasion, drew the cops into a chase while joyriding in the family car. “[My parents] were only strict because they were reasonable,” she told Apple Music in 2017. “Like, they’re black, they come from the South and Midwest, they don’t come from anything…they’re not tryna take a gang of risks.” That Rowe had her own ideas about how to live didn’t help. “I rebelled really hard, and I learned everything the hard way,” she said. “I’m very hardheaded, very curious.” It’s a balance—rebellious but insecure, expressive but self-conscious, dreamy but alert—that has made Rowe resonant, but also an anomaly, the kind of artist who doesn’t ignore her quirks or contradictions, but brings them to the table in all their messy human glory. After self-releasing a couple of EPs in her early twenties (she took her name from the Nation of Islam’s Supreme Alphabet—Savior Zig-Zag Allah), she became the first female artist signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, joining future collaborators Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock. Released in 2017, her debut album, Ctrl, put her at the vanguard of contemporary R&B, mixing the expressivity of classic soul with a hazy, synth-heavy atmosphere and a playful sense of lyricism that brought Rowe’s inner monologue out. “Even with the heels and tighter clothes and other things, I’m still just me,” she said. “I still have a lot of anxiety about the world, and my thoughts, and what people think about my thoughts.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Summer Walker 2019 41 Girls Need Love (Summer Walker & Drake) -1- 2019 24 Playing Games -1- 2019 42 Come Thru (Summer Walker & Usher) -3- 2019 70 Stretch You Out (feat. Raised in the suburbs of Houston, Scott (born Jacques Berman Webster II in 1992) first made noise as an in-house producer for Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, working on the 2012 label showcase Cruel Summer and 2013’s Yeezus, which arrived mere weeks after he dropped his debut mixtape, Owl Pharaoh. He went on to bring his gothic-edged sound to Drake, Migos, Madonna, and Rihanna (“Bitch Better Have My Money”), while his own solo albums—2015’s Rodeo and 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight—playfully drew the commercial center of rap toward the avant-garde. Take 2018’s ASTROWORLD, a swirling, almost psychedelic set that not only managed to pull together Quavo, John Mayer, Tame Impala, and Sheck Wes on the same album, but also had them gel—a testament to Scott’s vision as an artist and superlative curator. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2015 50 No Sense (Justin Bieber feat. His first album, Hypersonic Missiles, arrived in 2019. Born and raised in North Shields, just outside of Newcastle, Fender came from a musical family. After gigging locally, he was discovered by Ben Howard's manager, who helped pave the road for Fender's debut single, "Play God." Moody in tone and socially conscious, it was followed by two more singles, "Greasy Spoon" and "Millennial," before the BBC named Fender along with acts like Sigrid and Lewis Capaldi for their Sound of 2018 list. Tours with Hozier and Catfish and the Bottlemen followed, as did 2018 singles like "Leave Fast" and "That Sound," both of which later appeared on his EP Dead Boys, released by Polydor in November of that year. At the beginning of 2019, Fender entered his own studio in his hometown of North Shields to record his debut album with friend and producer Bramwell Bronte. He won the Brit Awards' Critics' Choice honor and made his U.S. television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! before Interscope/Polydor issued the resulting Hypersonic Missiles in September of 2019. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2019 89 Play God -1- 2019 48 Hypersonic Missiles -2- 2019 43 Will We Talk? -3- 2019 59 The Borders -IG- 2021 22 Seventeen Going Under -1- 2021 48 Get You Down -2- 2021 41 Spit Of You -3- 0 x #1 | 0 x Top 5 | 0 x Top 10 | 0 x Top 20 | 1 x Top 40 | 7 x Top 100 Social Media Sam Fender http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
