Wow @ Starship finishing that high, I somehow thought that was laughed at by everyone, I love it though, amazingly singalong.

Orinoco Flow and Down Under are fantastic songs, I'm surprised I didn't vote Pump Up The Volume as it's a watershed moment for dance music, thought it may do a little better.

It won't change its position but I gave this 6 points too, lovely song although I prefer others from later on in her career even more, like Anywhere Is.

Also, Starship I probably like more because it was the No.1 when I was born! But it suits my later music taste well. Big, anthemic and cheesy!

You did- apologies- I've added you in!

Nice to have slowed down on the amount of songs I was losing. Soul II Soul the only one of the last few revealed that'd have come close to my votes. Quite glad some of them aren't as high as top 30
Holly Johnson was on the Christmas edition of the revived Never Mind The Buzzcocks last month and he performed The Power Of Love at the end of the show. I'm pleased to report he's still in great voice.

Down Under is the best one out of the other two.

Where can I watch that, was it on sky one?

Yes, it's on Sky now. You'll probably find it on the Catchup service.

Thanks must give it a watch!

Interesting to hear, thanks. All I have to go on is the very differing chart runs for those singles and the fact that Heart is now regularly left off PSB tour setlists, so it's interesting to see how the situation was perceived at the time.

I only saw It Couldn't Happen Here for the first time a couple of years ago when it was released on DVD, it's completely mad in a very endearing way but at least gave me some context to the Always On My Mind video (I never realised it was part of a film until I watched it!)

Yes, that's Neil & Chris' decision to leave it off setlists, they don't rate it so much themselves as the first 3 tracks off Actually, but then What Have I Done is often absent too due to Dusty not being available. The film is totally bizarre but I'd like to see it again

love MARRS, Enya is Fab and Starship is a bloated slab of cheese. I like my cheese in thin slices  Grace Slick's finest moment is her solo Dreams, former BJSC entry for Singerpurear....

The biggest selling single of 1982 exits here, the girl in the promo and on the cover of the record is the sister of Bananarama/ Shakespears Sister singer Siobhan Fahey. It's also the third favourite chart topper of the year!

China In Your Hand is one of my favourite ballads ever. I just love the melody change at 'they may come true and you can't help them'.

Come On Eileen is very good too.

oh really thought China in Your Hand would be higher, easily one of the best ballads ever

still sounds great unlike most of those 80s rock ballads

was a big T' Pau fan, too bad they lost it quite quickly

Come On Eileen not top 20, not even top 30. What a joke. It's so good. Well, I think I lov it more because of that scene from 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' film, when they dance to it in a school party.

China In Your Hand was close to get votes from me. Such a beautiful ballad.

On the other hand, some songs I hate are still to come. :puke2:

China In Your Hand is a great track, but Come in Eileen is so annoying now. It's played at every wedding, 80s disco, party I've been to forever!!!
Yeah agreed about Come On Eileen - I could quite happily never hear it again though no question it was a great track at the time. China In Your Hand is brill.
First loss for me since Caravan of Love at #45... my peak of enjoying Come On Eileen was probably about 20 years ago, but it's still a tune and a half
T'Pau is a goodie (but not as good as Heart & Soul) and loved Dexy's till the overplay palled it's charms a little, I'd rather hear their early hits these days, but Eileen is still a great record despite that...

I do love that TOTP performance of ‘China In Your Hand’ also the Christmas performance with the big snowman. Sort of feels like it was the end of the 80s totps as once Xmas 87 ended we got a lot of newer presenters and the studio looked more like the 1988-91 bringing us up to the big change!

Love Eileen too but it’s overplayed!
