January 21, 20224 yr Author Missed the top 40 this week? Muse Won't Stand Down 1st single from forthcoming studio album Released: 13th January 2022 Label: Warner Music UK Video d55ELY17CFM Biography To get a sense of where Muse is coming from, consider that in 2016 the band was venturing to design a stage made of magnets so it would look like they were flying—like superheroes. The stage never happened, but the point stands: Few bands go as shamelessly big as Muse. Formed in Devon, England, in the mid-’90s, the trio fashioned themselves as a modern answer to ’70s prog, mixing Queen-like arena rock with electronic music and glam, layering their sound with narratives about drone warfare, government oppression, the idea that we’re all just lines of code living in a program we call reality—blockbuster fantasies that restored rock to a state of wide-eyed wonder. Though their approach has shifted and evolved over the years (the classical inflections of 2003's Absolution, the hard rock of 2015’s Drones, the electro sheen of 2018’s Simulation Theory), the core of their sound has stayed the same: Take something big and make it bigger. Still, the band has always maintained a good sense of humour about themselves. Speaking to Apple Music in 2015, singer Matt Bellamy recalled a night when bassist Chris Wolstenholme literally got stuck in an elaborate stage platform during a show—what Bellamy called “the Spinal Tap moment.” “There’s a seriousness in what we do,” Bellamy said. “There’s also an irony as well. And we always oscillate between those two things, and create something a bit different than both those things.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 1999 73 Uno -1- 1999 52 Cave -2- 1999 25 Muscle Museum -3- 2000 22 Sunburn -4- 2000 20 Unintended -5- 2001 11 Plug In Baby -1- 2001 12 Newborn -2- 2001 22 Bliss -3- 2001 24 Hyper Music / Feeling Good -4- 2002 13 Dead Star / In Your World -1- 2003 08 Time Is Running Out -1- 2003 17 Hysteria -2- 2004 16 Sing For Absolution -3- 2004 14 Butterflies And Hurricanes -4- 2006 04 Supermassive Black Hole -1- 2006 13 Starlight -2- 2006 10 Knights Of Cydonia -3- 2007 21 Invincible -4- 2007 18 Map Of The Problematique -5- 2009 09 Uprising -1- 2009 49 Undisclosed Desires -2- 2010 38 Resistance -3- 2010 11 Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever) -OST- 2012 22 Survival -1- 2012 35 Madness -2- 2013 58 Supremacy -3- 2015 55 Psycho -1- 2015 71 Dead Inside -2- 2018 76 Thought Contagion -1- 2018 96 Pressure -2- 2018 97 Algorithm -AT- 2022 __ Won't Stand Down -1- 0 x #1 | 1 x Top 5 | 4 x Top 10 | 14 x Top 20 | 22 x Top 40 | 31 x Top 100 Social Media Muse http://i.imgur.com/1SERq1f.png
January 21, 20224 yr Author Missed the top 40 this week? Chris Brown Iffy 1st single from Breezy Released: 14th January 2022 Label: Chris Brown Entertainment Video hLpAZ8_BZS4 Biography Greeted with comparisons to young Michael Jackson and Usher, Chris Brown arrived in 2005 as a squeaky-clean pop-R&B artist with "Run It!," the first debut single by a male artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in over a decade. While there was nowhere to go but down, at least in terms of chart positions, the singer, dancer, and occasional rapper was only getting started. Within a few years, Brown became one of the biggest active pop stars with Chris Brown (2005) and Exclusive (2007), multi-platinum albums that produced five more Top Ten singles, including "Kiss Kiss" and "Forever." As a featured artist or duettist, he added to the count with hits such as "No Air," a ballad with Jordin Sparks. By the end of the decade, Brown underwent a stylistic makeover during which his forebears shifted to the likes of Jodeci, R. Kelly, and 2Pac. This, and a more drastic change in public image, did little to slow his commercial momentum. His streak of Top Ten albums was sustained with releases such as Graffiti (2009), the Grammy-winning F.A.M.E. (2011), and Fortune (2012). Brown's artistic scope has since continued to widen with Heartbreak on a Full Moon (2017) and Indigo (2019), albums as long as epic films. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2006 02 Run It! (feat. January 21, 20224 yr I think 2012 is my favourite of the retros. I love Domino but also there are quite a few other classics in the Top 10 - particularly Titanium, Antidote, Levels and Paradise. 2017 was good one too - really like You Don’t Know Me, Touch, Call On Me, September Song and Paris. 2007 had a lot of interesting songs and they felt really fresh at the time, but they haven’t aged well. January 2002 wasn’t brilliant; I don’t think the year has really got going yet. Similarly in January 2021 Olivia had exploded onto the scene (and Don’t Play was good) but otherwise it was mainly 2020 leftovers.

They’d hang out all day, bonding, making music, seeing friends, whatever. People always coming and going, never a dull moment. Sometimes, Juice would wake LAROI up in the middle of the night, wild with excitement about a track LAROI had to put a verse on. Other mornings, LAROI would wake up to his and Juice’s managers saying it was time to pack up and head to Texas. Like, now. He was 15, 16 years old. “I’d never experienced anything like that,” he said. “Especially coming from Australia, where everything is kind of like its own bubble.” Not that 15-year-olds outside Australia would be used to it either. But such is the meteoric ascent of a talented young rapper circa 2020. Born Charlton Howard in 2003, LAROI—whose name is a reference to the Kamilaroi Indigenous nation, in which he has family roots—grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, and began to work on music when he was a pre-teen. Like Juice WRLD, Post Malone or even Lil Peep, LAROI’s key tracks—“ALWAYS DO”, “TRAGIC” and the Juice WRLD collaboration “GO”—blend ultra-melodic trap with shades of alternative rock and classic pop, a fusion that has put him on the front burner of pop-rap. His first album, F*CK LOVE, hit the Top 10 before he turned 18. - Apple Music Justin Bieber There’s a moment in a 2020 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe where Justin Bieber begins—quietly, hesitantly—to cry. “It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turning their back on you in a second,” Bieber says, each clause kicking up memories like dust. The point isn’t to weep with or for him—he had more dreams come true in his first 25 years than most people manage in a lifetime. But he’s also one of the few pop stars of his generation to have truly grown up in public, weathering the cable newsification of celebrity culture in the internet era while still trying to develop as both an artist and a person. Even early on, you could tell he had his eye on the future, balancing a doe-eyed wholesomeness with earnest attempts at hip-hop and R&B, material that suited him as a kid with material that reflected his growth into adolescence and adulthood. Some teen-pop singers end up trapped in amber; Justin Bieber has, knocks and all, kept swimming. Born in London, Ontario, in 1994, Bieber was famously discovered when his future manager, Scooter Braun, stumbled on some performance videos that Bieber’s mom had uploaded to YouTube to share with family and friends. Braun, who understood not only Bieber’s appeal but the potential of the internet, encouraged him to keep making videos and keep the equipment cheap—an approach that not only helped Bieber’s growing fanbase to understand that he was still just a kid like them, but drafted a new blueprint for how artists could reach audiences in the digital era. With the exception of a voice change around 2011, 2009’s My World, 2010's My World 2.0 and 2012's Believe are more or less of a piece: the sound of a boy trying to stick the landing into puberty. Released in 2015, Purpose showed Bieber developing a more thoughtful connection to his material, including collaborations with vanguard pop producers like Diplo, Skrillex and benny blanco. After a five-year break during which Bieber underwent significant personal changes—including a detox from touring life, a diagnosis of Lyme disease and a epiphanic marriage to Hailey Baldwin—he came back with 2020’s Changes. “People have been putting me on a pedestal,” Bieber told Apple Music. ""I didn’t ask for that. Obviously I love making music, but there are a lot of people that love making music and they’re not in the position that I’m in. I’m just trying to steward that wisely, steward my relationship wisely. I want people to take a look at my story—hopefully, my words can make a difference.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History The Kid LAROI 2020 43 GO (The Kid LAROI & Juice WRLD) -1- 2020 38 SO DONE -2- 2020 66 ALWAYS DO -AT- 2020 02 WITHOUT YOU -3- 2020 63 Reminds Me Of You (Juice WRLD & The Kid LAROI) -NAS- 2021 47 No Return (Polo G feat. January 21, 20224 yr Author 39 | 32 | 10th week Taylor Swift All Too Well (Taylor's Version) 1st single from Red (Taylor's Version) Released: 12th November 2021 Label: Taylor Swift Chart Statistics NE (25/11/2021) | 3-6-10-24-32-50-68-26-32-39 Sales: 200k+ Certification: Silver Status: Standard Chart Ratio 04 Sales 03 Audio Streaming 01 Video Streaming Video tollGa3S0o8 Biography The country world feigned surprise when, after three albums of Music Row-indebted songcraft, Taylor Swift formally embraced pop on 2012’s Red. But no one should have been shocked: Any 14-year-old capable of persuading her parents to move from suburban Pennsylvania to Nashville for her career clearly has ambition to burn. And the thrill of following Swift’s rise has been watching her execute it flawlessly, largely because her melodic intelligence is equal to that ambition. Her early, youthful love songs heralded 2010's newly self-possessed Speak Now—which showed off her scathing wit—and evolved into knowing, ironclad pop fare that held its own against boisterous Max Martin production on 1989, her fifth album, titled after her birth year. Throughout, her songwriting has blurred the lines between the public and private, burying enough real-life clues (about, say, scarves and Starbucks) to make clear that only Swift can own her narrative, thank you very much, while still retaining a lyrical elegance. Though 2017’s reputation might have been perceived as a gorgeously constructed piece of dramatic theater—its attendant heroes and villains all real-life characters from Swift's public feuds—all that spectacle proved an attention-grabbing cover for her most romantic album yet. She turned up the romance even more on 2019’s Lover, but it was 2020’s folklore and its companion, evermore—ruminative, relatively lo-fi albums written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic—that earned her the Apple Music Award for Songwriter of the Year. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2009 02 Love Story -1- MILLIONAIRE 2009 60 White Horse -AT- 2009 51 Teardrops On My Guitar -2- 2009 100 Crazier -OST- 2009 30 You Belong With Me -3- 2010 57 Today Was A Fairytale -OST- 2010 30 Mine -1- 2012 67 Safe & Sound (feat.
