I'm not expecting a top 3 but either way she's done well. A respectable number plus the album is actually great.

The only thing that has surprised me about the girls debut numbers is Perrie managing a top 3 after being mismanaged so heavily and putting out an album that was just okay (no shade, love her and some of the songs but easily the weakest of the 3 debuts). Little Mix fans must have came through for her pretty strongly, hope the same happens for Leigh.

I honestly can't decide if she was always like this and I juat didn't notice because of the chemistry with the other girls, or if this is a new thing but I really...just don't enjoy her personality an

Perries success stunned me. She left it the best part of a year between singles then just dropped the album.

I guess it shows the loyalty of the core fan base and their willingness to pay for a multitude of formats for no real good reason.

Its not a true measure of success considering how short the chart atay is BUT and the biggest but - the girls remain booked. They do not need to sit on the charts or hit the top 20.

They are the third best selling girl group of all time without scratching the surface of the American market. They are in a very Melanie C position where they can truly do it for the love of the game and still charge tens of thousands for gigsb/ festivals.

For Leigh expecially, who has far less people to distribute that money to, it's great.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel perrie also got a minor boost from releasing 2 weeks after Jade, so the press were already talking about solo little mix success etc etc

Regardless wherever this finishes top 10 is still a massive achievement for her

Top 10 (likely top 5) as an independent artist is incredible. She will be extremely pleased with wherever she lands I think. I just think a #3 peak would be so satisfying and kind of a full circle moment.

Little Mix's first and last album release together both peaked at #3 (DNA & Between Us) and having JADE, Perrie and Leigh's debut albums all debut and peak at number 3 would be very satisfying!

Ehh, I love the girls but stans on here are quite ridiculous at times. People keep referring to her as an independent artist as if she's some unknown singer when she was in the biggest girlgroup of the century for 10 years, has multiple variants, done signings and has a huge Little Mix fanbase supporting her.

Yes getting top 5 is great but she was never destined to miss the top 40 or something. Let's be real. Album sales are dead and anyone with a fanbase and variants can go top 10.

Not really. There are plenty of recent examples of artists with established fanbases who still missed the Top 10: Shaznay Lewis (didn’t chart), Mika (#14), Jessie J (#19), Darren Hayes (#82), Joss Stone (didn’t chart), Maroon 5 (didn’t chart), Demi Lovato (#118), Emeli Sandé (#49), Jonas Brothers (didn’t chart), Ella Eyre (didn’t chart), Foxes (didn’t chart)… and the list goes on.

Literally none of them have a huge UK fanbase. Do you honestly think someone like Emeli Sande or Shaznay Lews would have young fans/gays multi buying variants and running social media campaigns to buy the album? Mixers are so dedicated and rabid that they pushed Sweet Melody to number 1 by buying about five or six versions of the song on iTunes together. I'm sure Mixers on Twitter are running schemes so international fans can donate to the UK and get more sales for Leigh too.

Again, Leigh HAS hustled and deserves the success but it's just a tad cringey when people act like the odds were against her and that it's a miraculous achievement she's charting so high.

They’re not nobodies either. Mika, Jessie J and Emeli Sandé all had multi-platinum albums not that long ago. They did have strong UK fanbases, but those have declined over the years. What I’m saying is that making the Top 10 isn’t trivial, even if you were hugely successful in the past. Not every artist can mobilise their fanbase to actually buy the album.

As for the Mixers, they definitely do their part to support Leigh-Anne:

By the way, I thought of some more recent examples:

Pixie Lott (didn't chart), Olly Alexander (#17), Sigrid (#12), Kelly Clarkson (#34), Mariah Carey (#31), Sia (#59) and Gwen Stefani (didn't chart).

Being independent is VERY different to having a major label backing you regardless of where you were previous to your current situation. Of course there are some huge examples where being independent has worked (RAYE being the major focus point rn) but it's definitely harder overall, when majority of your funding is from you, yourself! Limited streaming and radio support/promo slots etc.. The best thing about being independent is that charts won't matter to you as much as they do a major label. You are likely to continue putting out music whether you hit top 3, 30 or 300.

I’m disappointed in Banquet. I’ve received my second ‘personally signed’ copy and while the signature appears to be Leigh’s it’s blatantly obvious a staff member has done the text 😂

It’s not Leigh’s writing at all plus how was she in London when it shipped? She’s been up North so I highly doubt she travelled down to sign a few personally signed orders after the initial run.

It’s obvious she signed extra’s to sell like Jade / Perrie did but someone is just writing the text 😩

Its kinda so weird all of them go no.3 weird but cool. So glad for Leigh-Anne, major sales from Wednesday then

Ahh, well deserved and a good jump from the midweeks!
