I was wondering if Peru would miss out on a turn at the top altogether as it did in the weekly chart. I think As It Was will be in front at the next monthly update anyway.

Heat Waves currently above its EOY position last year :cheeseblock: I expect Go will soon overtake at least temporarily. Wonder if We Don't Talk About Bruno will even be top 10 by year end.

Adele? No way, she's barely doing 2K a week, maybe even less

even Divide is doing double than 30

at the rate it's going, 30 won't even be on 800K by the end of the year

basically cos the label is not playing the "get fake album streams" game

by adding Peru to the album and having all those remixes and new versions, Equals is doing 5-6 times better than 30

Equals will be above 30 in a couple months

Ed could well end up End of Year no..1 album and 3 of the top 5 singles.

sure, but you reckon the core of Ed's "sales" are physical?

Of course not, that's not the point I'm making. You just keep making the comparison between Ed and Adele implying Ed is only ahead because of streaming playlists which just isn't true.

Bearing in mind that utilizing the streaming playlists ensures that people are aware of your product so while it is true that Ed is not getting 'sales' purely from streaming, the fact he has the streaming, does to some extent, also increase the likelihood that people may end up buying the record. This is of course assuming that the streaming population and record buying population overlaps. We can clearly see that that is frequently not the case as records sell 'bucketloads' on release and then vanish in the majority of the cases unless they also have the streaming side to support their 'sales'.

The fact Ed now has the deluxe edition (with 16+ tracks) does mean that he theoretically has 25% more possible streams than Adele's 12-track album does in any case - of course Ed also has at least 7 tracks that are potentially streaming thus bolstering the average compared with say 3 for Adele.....

Whether it be actual sales and/or streams that Ed is catching up an din all likelihood will have the biggest album of the decade so far within 2 to 3 months, unless they start to promote '30' again (and even then he could probably would still do it) as Ed is selling 10,000+ a week and Adele is doing less than 2,000 and is only 71,800 ahead....

88, 90 and nope! Lost and Dandelions are the only non Top 40 hits.

And 505 presumably?

I knew Adele's '30' wasn't as big as '25' or '21' but genuinely shocked to see if as low as 87 on the current midweeks. :o I was expecting it to be top 40 still at least (and shows how little I follow the album chart).

For reference '25' was top 10 after 28 weeks (the length of time '30' has currently charted) having briefly dropped out of the top 10 but was to enjoy a further 4 top 10 runs. '21' was still top 2 after 28 weeks having only ever been at 1 or 2.

plus also bare in mind that all those new remixes of 2step or Bad habits or whatever, they all count for the album streams too

thats a lot of gratis album streaming points

People just aren’t streaming the tracks anymore, aside from the 2 singles that don’t count towards the album chart. Even I Drink Wine is almost out of the YTD Top 100 and only doing 2-3k chart sales per week, and the other tracks must be doing hardly anything. Compare with Sour - the 3rd song is still doing about 6k per week and most if not all the album will be doing more than I Drink Wine.

25 still had single campaign promoting it 6 months after 25’s release though. Adele/her team have all but given up plugging 30.

Bored of all the Ed talk. I don’t see how it is anything but a positive seeing someone plugging multiple post album singles and maintaining interest in the album. If Ed stopped promoting after Christmas, I have no doubt he would be in a similar position to Adele.

I find it bizarre that Adele's label gave up on 30 so quick

2 singles and done

a 3rd single wouldn't have been #1 for sure but would have kept the album out there

Why haven't they done a 3rd single for Adele? It's absolutely bizarre. Loads of the album tracks are good.

I do remember with her last album there was quite a long gap between When We Were Young and Send My Love, but it wasn't as long as this. I don't know if they're just sitting around waiting for one of them to take off on TikTok or something but you can't guarantee that will ever happen, let alone in the next few months.

Maybe her album underperformed so they're freaking out, but it still did better than basically every other album in the past few years and if they don't do anything now she's going to get outperformed by Olivia Rodrigo which doesn't have to be the case if they try harder.

I would say get one of her album tracks and re-do it as a piano ballad. That's what people seem to like most from Adele. Either that or get a good drum & bass remix of one of her songs and use that as a single as that's becoming trendy now and it would surprise a lot of people. There was a popular drum & bass remix of Hometown Glory back in the day.

The whole campaign feels dead in the water now, they should've released one more full single before the album and a promo track or two. Even with 'Oh My God' it felt like one giant tumbleweed trying to make that happen after the album release.

I'm not sure she or the label even care enough to bother at this point, the only real option I could see is releasing a new version of a track with a feature. I was hoping we'd get 'Can I Get It?' somewhere along the line, that sounded like a real hit and it's something a bit different for her.

Do you mind adding Dandelions and Love Nwantiti to the "old songs" part cause they were released before 2021?

Think Harry’s album will be year end No1 he’s doing excellently and he’s in week 3! Just needs one more singles chart hit to ensure it sells in the longer run.

Don’t get the arguements about Ed only doing better because of ‘fake streams’ I mean if that does occur it’s because he releases genuinely popular songs that become hits. If the same was the case with Adele she would be continuing to be listened to but isn’t. I don’t understand the comparison with these two artists anyway but sure!

Sure good point! Love Nwantiti currently #41. Dandelions is between Riptide and Dance Monkey.
