To the surprise of hardly anyone, original X Factor winner Steve Brookstein is first out. I hadn’t realised all 13 of his fans were on Buzzjack let alone following this contest but I imagine that’s why other songs were voted for. Called out in the final by Sharon Osbourne for being arrogant, Steve released this the week after Christmas when it still couldn’t knock Band Aid 20 from the top but it did sneak a week At no.1 on low sales In the first week of 2005. He never charted in the singles chart again.

Empire State Of Mind

Tough one but I’m going for Something Stupid - a pleasant but lazy cover.

Empire State Of Mind (original version) is the major classic out of that batch for me, though the non-Jay-Z version isn't nearly as good and I got fed up of hearing that one. That's the one that Radio 2 plays, so I've never got sick of the original version :lol:
