Aitch's Official Top 10 biggest tracks in the UK revealed

21 March 2022 | By George Griffiths

Aitch has only been releasing music since 2017, but in that time Manchester native Harrison Armstrong (you know... H... Aitch...) has become a reliable hitmaking presence in the UK.

Since his first entrance into the chart in 2019, Aitch has notched up 12 Top 40 singles (including an impressive six Top 10s) plus two Top 10 EPs on the Official Albums Chart.

And he continues this hot streak with his first solo release of 2022, Baby. Featuring a sample from Ashanti's Rock Wit U, the track was last week's highest new entry on the Official Singles Chart, and also topped the Official Trending Chart.

As a result we thought it was high time that we reveal Aitch's biggest tracks in the UK to date - totalling up both digital downloads and streaming figures.

The Top 10 perhaps unsurprisingly features all of Aitch's six Top 10 hits; but the countdown starts, almost poetically, at the beginning - with his breakthrough release Straight Rimez.

The track was originally uploaded to Soundcloud, catching the attention of Stormzy and setting Aitch's career in motion. Despite not landing in the Official Chart, its popularity has endured to place it at Number 10 in Aitch's biggest tracks.

The chart is also chock-full of collaborations including his second link-up with regular collaborator ZieZie, French Kisses (9) and fellow Manchester local Bugzy Malone on Kilos (7).

Now, let's break down the Top 5:

5. UFO (with D-Block Europe)

Released: 2020

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 11

UK chart sales: 484,000

A link-up with Official Chart mainstays D-Block Europe, UFO was the first time Aitch and the hip-hop collective collaborated on a track, taken from D-Block Europe's 2020 debut studio album The Blue Print: US vs Them. It peaked at Number 11 on the Official Singles Chart, and has UK chart sales totalling 484,000, including 68 million streams.

4. Buss Down (ft. ZieZie)

Released: 2019

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 8

UK chart sales: 630,000

Buss Down is what Aitch refers to as one of the "sickest" tracks on his debut EP, AitcH2O. His first collaboration with British afroswing star ZieZie, it became Aitch's third (and ZieZie's first) UK Top 10 hit. It has clocked up 88 million streams, and is Aitch's fourth most-popular track overall with combined chart sales of 630,000.

3. Rain (with AJ Tracey)

Released: 2020

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 3

UK chart sales: 858,000

A massive hit for both Aitch and AJ Tracey, Rain climbed all the way to Number 3 on the Official Singles Chart last year. The track is also Aitch's third most-streamed song in the UK, with combined streams in excess of 118 million.

2. Taste (Make It Shake)

Released: 2019

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 2

UK chart sales: 1.01 million

Taste (Make It Shake) is Aitch's most-streamed track in the UK to date with audio and video streams of 140 million. It's his most-streamed video too, with the clip notching up over 26 million views. Taste is also Aitch's highest-peaking track on the Official Singles Chart so far, reaching Number 2.

1. Strike A Pose (with Young T and Bugsey)

Released: 2019

Official Singles Chart peak: Number 9

UK chart sales: 1.06 million

Aitch's most popular track in the UK has chart sales totalling 1.06 million. A team up with Young T and Bugsey, Strike A Pose may have only reached Number 9 on the Official Singles Chart, but it's proved increasingly popular since first dropping in 2019.

It's weird to think that the top two songs have 1 million "sales". Reaching that landmark used to be such a big deal years ago but now it feels like it doesn't carry that much weight and is not so special of an achievement.
7 top 20 hits is more than some artists they've done a feature on (even though many of them have Aitch as a featured artist).

it makes total sense to do an article on Aitch just after he's entered the chart in at #2 as well.

(I didn't expect SAP would still be ahead of Taste although just barely)

I enjoyed the brief era of Strike A Pose/Ay Caramba type production, haven't heard much of that sort of production since 2019.
That George Griffiths has had some really questionable articles on the official charts company website recently…
He's fairly new to the OCC. I think he only started working for them in January so he's still finding his way around things, including how to write interesting articles!
