The preview sounds decent and I’m glad he hasn’t just tried to do ‘Someone You Loved’ part 2 with the first single.

I think this era will be massive for him as I think he will get bigger with every album a bit like Ed Sheeran and not so much James Bay or Sam Smith. Who have a big debut era and decline afterwards.

Sounds pretty good on first listen.

I wouldn't want him to move away from the Someone You Loved-type ballads completely though.

^Harry Styles too for sure... I'd say Ezra certainly not, I doubt he'll have another hit from his album
As much as his songs get tiring to hear.. I did like both of his biggest hits so I'm slightly curious to see what he pulls out this time around.

I think singles wise he will do well but I cant see his 2nd album outselling his debut or coming close.

That snippet sounds just like every other song he's released... with a tempo change

I like him though so I hope it does well (although 11 weeks at number 1 well, no thank you)

I'll be interested to see how this does, I don't necessarily think he's a certain to have a #1 again but then male pop stars like him and Ed can pretty much fart out anything and it'll be a hit.

Pretty harsh thing to say!

That snippet sounds alright. I liked Someone You Love and Before You Go so will give this a listen when it’s released.

I know the song is overplayed and got lots of hate in here

but Someone You Loved is an incredible song, Adele-21 level in terms of songwriting, incredible good lyrics

the rest of his songs were just ok for me, not on the same level as SYL but good enough

funnily I like his songs but don't like him very much, the persona he created for interviews is really too much for me

for me on t shows he's like the opposite of likeable

Pretty harsh thing to say!

Not really.

Anyway, I don't mind his songs, not really my cup of tea but can appreciate he has some well written songs. But agree with Bjork, I find his persona so cringe worthy and fake but people will of course eat it up.

For me he's basically the most one-dimensional artist possible, every damn song sounds exactly the same. I hope he changes it up a bit this time around.
Grace is the only song he's done that I've loved but I don't mind most of his other hits with the exception of Someone You Loved, those painful vocals in the middle 8 section are something else....

He's a very good songwriter, melodically and lyrically, and I like his personality - to me he's funny and does come across as genuinely appreciative of his success, and not arrogant.

But his voice grates to the point of making really good songs borderline unlistenable for me. I've loved pretty much every cover of Someone You Loved and Before You Go I've heard but I can't listen to the originals. Interesting to hear that he's upped the tempo on the new single though.

Kinda how I feel tbh. I find his songs good for the first 2 or 3 listens, but then I can't get past the sound of his voice. BYG is my favourite of his, but like I said, I never really go out of my way to listen to it and I'd even skip depending on my mood.

Maybe some people have a sense of humour?

He’s funny, tries to make people laugh and he’s just brutally honest, no matter how brutal it ends up being. I really like him as a person and I think he has a great personality
Agreed, he’s announced he has tourettes too which explains a fair amount

And maybe it's just my opinion. You don't like me, just ignore me.

So what do people predict he will open with next week? I suspect he will shoot to #1 on itunes and will likely top the sales chart next week. Should we be expecting a big opening day on Spotify? He will definitely get support from the start but its really hard to judge how he will do. He could easily do 500/600,000 streams on Spotify but could do alot less. I guess even if he doesn't reach the #1 spot to begin with then the CD single could propel him there (like Before You Go). If he debuts 600,000+ he could be #1 for weeks.
