My mind instantly transports to Live Aid any time I hear 'Radio Gaga' - epic crowd pleaser and on the production side of things the synth sound worked surprisingly well.

Of course the inspo for Lady Gaga's stage name too!

Aye one of my favourite moments of Live Aid! Freddie was amazing at controlling the crowd!

Love Radio Gaga, it was topping my charts the week I left the Northern coalmining-town jobless wastelands for the Southern slightly-less-jobless friendless wastelands with better scenery. And I moved into the bedroom I am typing from right now. Yes, that's how long I've been in Poole....

my gut feeling is Ultravox next (my gut told me that about 3 songs ago, but it is often voted the greatest number 2 of all time so I could well be wrong!), Eurythmics, Pet Shop Boys, Phil Collins, Tears For Fears and aha.

Place your bets...

When I ranked what I think will be top ten I was struggling to put TFF over Bonnie and Irene but in the end, especially since Bonnie missing it with a bigger song (thou I prefer Hero), did include it. I am kinda surprised it still is in the running. So most likely I´d say it is bye for TFF or PSB falling next. The curveball being Vienna, never really cared for it but seems very popular here.

I couldn’t think of any less of a curveball than Vienna - consistently voted the best number 2 of the 80s!

Phil Collins is a (nice) surprise for me with what’s left.

Fairytale of New York is a classic, genius lyrics, genius duet

not a big fan of Radio Gaga myself or Queen in general

New rate record of 16 voters for this one with 9 voters putting this in their top 10. Collins’ first solo single it is also our 2nd favourite No 2 of 1981 and was only denied by John Lennon’s death!

Oh yeah, my top 2 is top 5 here this time. :o

Radio Gaga is in my top 3 Queen fave songs along with Innuendo and Bohemian Rhapsody. ^_^

In The Air Tonight is ok for me, I don't feel all this love for it to think it deserves to be the 6th best number 2 of the 80s.

Top 5 Prediction:

01. A-ha

02. Ultravox

03. Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield

04. Eurythmics

05. Tears For Fears

Creeping back up the leaderboard thanks to those last couple of exits. I'm happy to be the 16th biggest fan of In The Air Tonight as it's Phil Collins' best song, although perhaps that's not the highest of high bars.

As per Jade and Julian's predictions, I'd expect the next two songs to be PSB/TFF and then between Eurythmics/Ultravox for the two after that - I'm just not sure about the order within both of those pairs of songs. I'd be very pleasantly surprised if any of those four songs won.

In The Air Tonight is wonderful, such an unsettling and atmospheric listen. A world away from his material in the later part of the decade! I don't know if it's good or bad that I still associate it with Cadbury's drumming gorilla *_

Rooting for A-ha or Ultravox to win out of what's left, though most of them would be great winners (PSBs slightly less so than the others I must say, it doesn't feel on the same level *hides*)

Wow, I should never underestimate the Pet Shop Boys support on here! Although 1 place out with my Phil guess isn't too bad.

I too still associate 'In The Air Tonight' with the drumming gorilla as that's how I discovered it  a masterclass in tension and building to an impactful climax *.*

Such a good feel good classic 80's song is 'In The Air Tonight'. 'What Have I Done To Deserve This' feels a tad too high imo so I'm surprised it's not been revealed yet.

‘In the Air Tonight’ is unreal such a classic!

And Phils tin of paint alongside the TOTP performance 🤣
