Never a fan of the Rick track, it's OK though, Madonna's Crazy I've never got, again it's OK but overplayed and how it got to 2 twice is a mystery. Chas & Dave is a guilty pleasure for me, it's a great tune and great fun. Masterblaster is a goodie from a period when Stevie could do no wrong, Its Raining Men I'm just so sick of. It's not a bad record in any way, just certain pubs and clubs never stopped playing it. Homer Simpsons favourite record

Happy Birthday is pleasantly catchy, I Can't Wait is fab, Slade is epic singalong, Thompson Twins and uplifting forgotten goodie.

Together Forever is a great pop record, shame it never made number 1.

Also the Thompson Twins always reminds me of a wedding disco when I was 7 or so, I annoyed the DJ until he played it

As well-intentioned as Stevie's Happy Birthday was, I'm glad both the Altered Images song of that name and his homage to Bob Marley have placed higher in this rate.
Masterblaster is a great tune from Stevie. I agree that It's Raining Men is overplayed but still a classic. Not a fan of that Rick Astley song.

Rounding off his best year of the decade, this was his third top 2 single in a row with only the million selling Karma Chameleon denying it.

And just like that Bowie exits the rate with the 24 pts given to it by Fiesta placing it above “Modern Love”.

Our preferred Adam & The Ants runner up track just misses out on the top 50 and was a victim of Lennon mania at the time.

I couldn’t choose between Modern Love and China Girl so I didn’t vote for either of them haha

Happy to see 5 people voting for 'Antmusic' love that TOTP performance - I can only hope that one day a better quality version of the music video will be uploaded to YouTube 😭

I was introduced to 'Master Blaster (Jammin')' via the DJ Luck & MC Neat version  the original is gorgeous, 2 points doesn't feel like very much but competition was very tough.

Sadly didn't have enough room for those Bowie singles.

Master Blaster was released before Bob Marley died wasn’t it? Any record of what he thought of it?

Yes. They had been touring together earlier that year so i's an ode. :D

Love that TOTP performance by Adam and the Ants, you can see the early features of the TOTP studio that would characterise the 80s!

Missed out on the top spot by under 500 copies but the follow up went to No 1 so I doubt he was too bothered.

So Kylie’s second favourite No 2 of the 80s is this one. First of three instances that the wets held Kylie off.

glad Lionel Richie isn’t very high. hot take but for a so called party song its rather slow and dull.
I think All Night Long is a certified classic everyone knows today so surprised it wasn’t too 10!
