After jumping 45-24 on Friday, I was surprised not to see Lady Gaga on tonight's top 20.

Much as I enjoy As It Was, I hate that it keeps denying what would be some incredible chart achievements - our first Eurovision entry at number 1 since the 90s and now what would be Kate Bush's overdue second number 1 and a repeak after over three decades, meh :/

Agreed :( As It Was won't be remembered in 5+ years time as a classic either imo.

To be fair, As It Was is quite well positioned to be the biggest song of 2022 - a potential 10th week at #1 is really nothing to be sniffed at! Kate Bush has been screwed over more by the permanent ACR rules for songs older than 3 years and Sam got unlucky that the CDs for As It Was counted early.
Since AIWFCIY reached #1 officially, there hasn't been a song denied reaching #1 altogether by ACR. It's a strange situation that this could be the second song this year to be denied a week at #1 by ACR in favour of a song which had a longer run (Shivers / Easy On Me was the other case), but those are the rules.

but for what I understand, Running up that hill is gonna be used again in the ST season finale

so that should give it another huge huge push and by then Harry will be on ACR too

so Running up that hill could eventually end up #1 then if lucky

Shame they didn’t play the Sex Pistols really when it’s a track with so much history. You’d hope people could see it as harmless after all this time whether royalists or not (but I guess that’s too much to expect in 2022).

Personally I agree, although I guess the fact that she's 96 and not in the greatest health makes it more controversial to play a song saying she isn't a human being and there's no future, than when she was younger and healthier.

Ironic that the Sex Pistols track is back in the charts at a point where we could be seeing a song not get to #1 despite selling the most copies in a week.

I think it is very possible Kate could still get to #1 when the last episodes of Stranger Things come out, but even if not, a new peak of #2 would still be fantastic news (and I think that's now looking likely as she's still very comfortably over 2x Lizzo's daily Spotify numbers).

:cheeseblock: at a surprise First Look top 5 for Sex Pistols - probably out of the top 40 by the end of the week of course but hopefully should be secured top 100 already.

Good point! Just to underline there's always been a degree of 'quirkiness' / fixing of the charts across the decades, not just since ACR

Wait, why are we sure R.U.T.H. isn't going #1?

Because it's on ACR, meaning its streams are halved and it effectively has to do more than double what Harry is at #1 to be able to overtake. She's not doing double on Spotify so it won't be enough.

I really hope Kate makes it to number one this week and stays there for weeks. But I wouldn’t be unhappy to see Sam sneak a week in too. He was amazing at the Jubilee concert

I found out at the weekend that influencers on TikTok are being approached by labels to post TikTok’s using certain songs Afraid to Feel by LF System being one and Maybe You’re the Problem by Ava Max being another that were sent to this guy.

Not sure if this was already common knowledge that labels were doing this, but thought it was interesting.

it's cos he's releasing CD singles but agree Spaceman won't sell 40K CD singles

Even Ed Sheeran wouldn't hold that many back in reserve!
