Posted June 8, 20223 yr Now that all the major promotions have been decided, I thought I would start this thread. The Premier League's inaugural season was 1992-1993. Initially, it was 22 teams that competed in this division. Who would you like to see in the Premier League? The letter F stands for founding member. Current Premier League for 2022-23 season. AFC Bournemouth Arsenal F Aston Villa F Brentford Brighton & Hove Albion Chelsea F Crystal Palace F Everton F Fulham Leeds United F Leicester City Liverpool F Manchester City F Manchester United F Newcastle United Nottingham Forest F Southampton F Tottenham Hotspurs F West Ham United Wolverhampton Wanderers Of the rest of the teams, the following have been in the Premier League: - Barnsley Birmingham City Blackburn Rovers F Blackpool Bolton Wanderers Bradford City Burnley Cardiff Charlton Athletic Coventry City F Derby County Huddersfield Town Hull City Ipswich Town F Middlesbrough F MK Dons (formerly known as Wimbledon, shared a ground with Crystal Palace) F Norwich City F Oldham Athletic F Portsmouth QPR F Reading Sheffield United F Sheffield Wednesday F Stoke City Sunderland Swansea City Swindon Town Watford West Bromwich Albion Wigan Athletic For me, unsurprisingly I would like to see Carlisle United in the Premier League. Of the founding members, I would love to see the two Sheffield clubs back. Your turn to pick teams that have and haven't been in the Premier League. Have fun.
June 8, 20223 yr Preston North End - spent absolutely ages in the Championship but never got promoted. Always felt a bit sorry for them. Otherwise, going back to my youth, Birmingham were always there and to me they feel like they should be top flight
June 8, 20223 yr Blackburn of course, as a former winner. Then Norwich, Ipswich, Middlesbrough & Sheffield United "feel" like PL clubs to me. They would replace Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham & Wolves to make a more old school composition.
June 8, 20223 yr I generally have an open mind when it comes to teams in the Premier League, I would welcome any team that has never been in the league before or has been away for a very long time which is why Nottingham Forrest's promotion feels like a breath of fresh air. I wish the "yo-yo" teams such as Fulham and Norwich could be banned from entering the league though  , a team like West Brom and now Burnley never really brought excitement to the league so I wouldn't want them to come back either. Some real throwback names in the list of former clubs though! Charlton Athletic were mainstays of the league for a period but now it's 15 years and counting since they exited. I remember Coventry, Ipswich, Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday from childhood and they all had special moments. Blackpool only had one season in the Premier League but what a season it was!
June 8, 20223 yr The teams in the PL are there on merit although, obviously, there are some teams whose owners are so wealthy that their place is more or less guaranteed. Arguing that the likes of Brighton and Wolves (both of whom have just finisherd in the top half) shouldn't be there is plain daft.

Pretty much agree with this - it's always nice to see new teams (or teams that haven't been in so long they're 'new' to me) making it into the Premier League!
June 9, 20223 yr My opinion on it understandably has less merit, being an American lol, but this would look great: AFC Wimbledon Arsenal Aston Villa Blackburn Rovers Chelsea Crystal Palace Everton Leeds United Liecester City Liverpool Manchester City Manchester United Newcastle United Nottingham Forest Queens Park Rangers Sheffield Wednesday Southampton Swansea City Tottenham Hotspurs West Ham United I always remember Wimbledon F.C., Sheffield Wednesday, and Blackburn Rovers being in the Premier League in 90s when I watched as kid. There's something cool about Nottingham Forest's name being in it, and I like having a Welsh side in the league (Swansea). Edited June 9, 20223 yr by DJHazey
June 9, 20223 yr Yeh agree about the comments on Wolves I mean they are a classic English football club by name and have won the title three times in a decade in the 50s. Also Preston North End of course the team who won the first two league titles! Also like Sunderland for some reason, think they have won 5 leagues as well which you wouldn’t think given their name! Further down the leagues I find it fascinating that there are many newer small towns punching above their weight like Forest Green, Cheltenham Town, Accrington Stanley, Morcambe and the likes! June 10, 20223 yr That's true re Wolves, also I seemed to have overestimated how many years Ipswich spent in the PL (f*** all basically). So swap Wolves back in for Ipswich on mine!
June 10, 20223 yr Most seasons in the top flight since 1888 - Top 20 clubs EVERTON 120 ASTON VILLA 109 LIVERPOOL 108 ARSENAL 106 MANCHESTER UNITED 98 MANCHESTER CITY 94 NEWCASTLE UNITED 91 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 88 CHELSEA 88 SUNDERLAND 86 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 82 BOLTON WANDERERS 73 BLACKBURN ROVERS 72 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 68 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 66 WEST HAM UNITED 65 DERBY COUNTY 65 SHEFFIELD UNITED 62 STOKE CITY 62 MIDDLESBROUGH 61 The only 2 I'm surprised aren't there are Notts.
