Here we go. Based on this week’s first sales flash, which includes most physical preorders, yesterday's purchases and downloads (but not streaming), Tension is set to become Kylie’s ninth No1 studio album in the UK. It’s currently outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined having registered 31677 sales in 24 hours. On top of that, it is outperforming Disco, which took two days to reach the ~34k mark. Well done, everyone!

Guessing Padam will be highest on Spotify today, given it has a far higher amount of play listing than tension and is track one.

Obviously that’s not disappointing but hoped for even more….still already outsold the opening week of KMO!

30,242 Saturday update

34,557 Sunday update (+ 4,315)

36,798 Monday update (+ 2,241)

39,111 Tuesday update (+ 2,313)

45,093 Wednesday update (+ 5,982)

50,400 Thursday update (+ 5,300)

 

So 'Tension' is 1435 copies ahead at this point. I did expect a bit more too but hey, still fantastic sales!

I think the difference this time will be streaming that adds in a lot more overall.

Same, the figure is mammoth so don’t know why I was slightly :nocheer: when I first saw it - I literally have no reason to be even slightly disappointed with that figure :rofl:

We also don’t know who accurate everything is yet in terms of any missing data etc., which even for physicals early mids can miss out - the pop up shop might not be reported yet too etc.,

 

Either way it’s charging towards a potential 60k opening week.

I am expecting 60,000 units this week, though it could go down to 55,000.

There will be missing Amazon sales at the moment as well!

Won't that be counter balanced by her having no competition/not doing mid-week price reductions/variants & bundles to get the extra sales etc..?

 

I do think it's heading for north of 60k, maybe a little over. It's deserved as the album is fantastic. It's just going to be intriguing to see how it all holds up through the week with no battle to fight for more sales!

I thought 'Hold On To Now' might have been higher what with it being third on the New Music Friday playlist, but maybe there's not much difference between being third or ninth on this playlist (I feel like, unlike Hot Hits, this is a playlist where people will seek out the songs they want to hear rather than just press play).

I think we can expect 60k sales, I do not think the pop up shop will send their sales in until Sunday or Monday, so that might be a 6-7k boost?

 

Hopefully should clear 60k first week. Plus I think streaming will be higher and we have the double cassette to launch and maybe even a double vinyl?

 

Maybe more signed CDs?
