Posted June 24, 20223 yr Dandelions by Ruth B has now spent 22 weeks in the Top 75 but has only peaked at #42 - this much surely be a record?
June 24, 20223 yr I can't think of any others off the top of my head! The first one to come to mind was Imagine Dragons 'Believer' but amazingly despite managing 34 weeks in the Top 100 only 13 of them were in the Top 75. Others that come close off the top of my head: Joel Adams - Please Don't Go (20 weeks Top 75, 21 weeks Top 100) DOD & Carla Monroe - Still Sleepless (20 weeks Top 75, 21 weeks Top 100) Judging by the answer to this Pointless question, it looks like if there is another it has to be post-2018.
June 24, 20223 yr Martin & Gina was 33 weeks Top 100 but “only” 20 Top 75. I know Jim found a 90s track that had an epic Top 100 run without going Top 40 but not sure how much of that was Top 75? I’m rubbish at searching for old discussions. ;)
June 24, 20223 yr That was 'The King Is Here'/'The 900 Number' from 45 King which spent 30 weeks in the top 100 of which 5 were top 75 so not close.
June 24, 20223 yr I hadn't realised how many weeks 'Dandelions' had got to (mind this may be because I don't really consider top 75 stats to be of much meaning) so good catch there - my first thought for what the previous record may have been was 'Martin & Gina' and indeed looks like that may have been the joint record holder.
June 24, 20223 yr I still haven't even heard this song, even though I'm perfectly aware of its existence. Maybe I should do something about that.
June 24, 20223 yr I still haven't even heard this song, even though I'm perfectly aware of its existence. Maybe I should do something about that. Do - it’s gorgeous. :) I’d still love it to go Top 40 although if it’s broken a record that’s something I guess.
June 24, 20223 yr Let It Go by Demi Lovato (#42, 27 weeks) Believer by Imagine Dragons (#42, 34 weeks) A-Punk by Vampire Weekend (#55, 21 weeks) July by Noah Cyrus (#66, 20 weeks)
June 25, 20223 yr Author Let It Go only spent 20 weeks in the Top 75 - and Believer only spent 13 in the Top 75 as previously posted :) Can’t see anything to beat Dandelions - yet…..
June 25, 20223 yr Do - it’s gorgeous. :) I’d still love it to go Top 40 although if it’s broken a record that’s something I guess. I should think any chance of suddenly going back up to make the top 40 is long gone now it's heading downwards every time. It's done very well for a song that peaked outside though. I'm not sure but it could even be on ACR now as there's no way of knowing what would be on the declines at the moment.
June 26, 20223 yr I'm not sure but it could even be on ACR now as there's no way of knowing what would be on the declines at the moment. Nope - it’s on 1 week of decline max and may even be 0 as its sales stayed roughly the same this week, so it has 2 more weeks Top 75 minimum. :)
June 26, 20223 yr To answer the question - yes. Restricting data to purely the Top 75 (So Top 75 since 1978 when it began) and removing all entries that peaked between 1 and 40 (regardless of how many weeks said record spent between 41 and 75) we have MinOfDate - Wks - Peak - Artist - Title - Label - DLCatNum 05/02/2022 - 22 - 42 - Ruth B. - Dandelions - Columbia - USSM11703468 11/01/2014 - 20 - 42 - Demi Lovato - Let It Go - Walt Disney/Virgin EMI - USWD11366344 09/07/2016 - 20 - 50 - Joel Adams - Please Don't Go - Will Walker - AUZN31500442 29/07/2017 - 20 - 57 - Travi$ Scott - Butterfly Effect - Epic - USSM11704799 07/11/2020 - 20 - 48 - Polo G - Martin & Gina - Columbia - USQX92002595 05/02/2022 - 20 - 46 - D.O.D & Carla Monroe - Still Sleepless - Axtone - GBKCF2101056 30/04/2005 - 19 - 48 - Faithless - Insomnia - Cheeky - GBBXH9820026 25/06/2016 - 19 - 47 - TwentyOne Pilots - Ride - Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic - USAT21500598 19/08/2017 - 18 - 41 - 21 Savage - Bank Account - Slaughter Gang/Epic - USSM11705546 15/11/2014 - 16 - 48 - Ariana Grande & The Weeknd - Love Me Harder - Republic - USUM71409728 30/07/2016 - 16 - 59 - Frenship featuring Emily Warren - Capsize - Columbia - GBKPL1665135 18/05/2019 - 16 - 45 - Becky Hill & Weiss - I Could Get Used To This - Eko/Polydor - GBUM71900997 31/10/2020 - 16 - 45 - Yung Bleu featuring Drake - You're Mines Still - OVO - USWB12004394 26/02/2022 - 16 - 43 - Elley Duhé - Middle Of The Night - RCA - USRV81901815 10/07/1982 - 15 - 44 - Ken Barrie - Postman Pat - Post Music - PP 001 27/08/2016 - 15 - 47 - Tory Lanez - Luv - Interscope - USUM71604429 05/08/2017 - 15 - 45 - Hardy Caprio featuring One Acen - Unsigned - A2i - GBLFP1738020 03/04/2021 - 15 - 50 - Maroon 5 & Megan Thee Stallion - Beautiful Mistakes - Interscope - USUM72102260 20/11/2004 - 14 - 44 - House Of Pain - Jump Around - Tommy Boy - USTB10300119 20/01/2007 - 14 - 44 - Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama - MCA - USMC17446153 20/08/2016 - 14 - 46 - Tove Lo - Cool Girl - Polydor - SEUM71601198 18/04/2020 - 14 - 44 - Robbie Doherty & Keees - Pour The Milk - Relentless - GBHAD1902177 01/05/2021 - 14 - 46 - Regard, Troye Sivan & Tate McRae - You - Ministry Of Sound - GBCEN2100036 If we expand the weeks to the Top 100 (Top 75 1978-1982 and Top 100 since - with 1991-1992 back to a Top 75) we get MinOfDate - Wks - Peak - Artist - Title - Label - DLCatNum 18/02/2017 - 34 - 42 - Imagine Dragons - Believer - Interscope - USUM71700626 20/11/2004 - 33 - 44 - House Of Pain - Jump Around - Tommy Boy - USTB10300119 19/09/2020 - 33 - 48 - Polo G - Martin & Gina - Columbia - USQX92002595 11/03/1989 - 32 - 60 - The 45 King - The King Is Here / The 900 Number - Trax - DRX9 10/10/2015 - 29 - 58 - Drake & Future - Jumpman - Cash Money/Epic/Republic - USCM51500300 28/12/2013 - 27 - 42 - Demi Lovato - Let It Go - Walt Disney/Virgin EMI - USWD11366344 17/02/2007 - 22 - 59 - Mika - Lollipop - Casablanca/Island - USC7R0600045 21/04/2007 - 22 - 44 - Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Big Boy - USMAC0100119 25/06/2016 - 22 - 47 - TwentyOne Pilots - Ride - Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic - USAT21500598 22/07/2017 - 22 - 57 - Travi$ Scott - Butterfly Effect - Epic - USSM11704799 22/05/2021 - 22 - 64 - Surf Curse - Freaks - Big Joy - TCACA1429223 05/02/2022 - 22 - 42 - Ruth B. - Dandelions - Columbia - USSM11703468 09/02/2008 - 21 - 55 - Vampire Weekend - A-Punk - XL - XLS305CD 02/07/2016 - 21 - 50 - Joel Adams - Please Don't Go - Will Walker - AUZN31500442 12/08/2017 - 21 - 41 - 21 Savage - Bank Account - Slaughter Gang/Epic - USSM11705546 18/05/2019 - 21 - 45 - Becky Hill & Weiss - I Could Get Used To This - Eko/Polydor - GBUM71900997 29/01/2022 - 21 - 46 - D.O.D & Carla Monroe - Still Sleepless - Axtone - GBKCF2101056 04/09/1993 - 20 - 45 - Clubhouse featuring Carl - Light My Fire - PWL Continental - PWL272 17/02/2001 - 20 - 42 - Eva Cassidy - Over The Rainbow - Hot/Blix Street - HIT 16 30/04/2005 - 20 - 48 - Faithless - Insomnia - Cheeky - GBBXH9820026 23/07/2016 - 20 - 59 - Frenship featuring Emily Warren - Capsize - Columbia - GBKPL1665135 11/01/2020 - 20 - 66 - Noah Cyrus - July - Records - USQX91901092 I then wondered... June 26, 20223 yr 3 of the songs on that list starting their runs at pretty much exactly the same time this year!
July 29, 20222 yr Dandelions has so far made it to 27 weeks, overtaking Mumford & Sons - The Cave and Rihanna - Needed Me on 26 weeks which previously had the most without reaching the Top 30!
July 29, 20222 yr I'd be curious to see how much sales Ruth is on so far. Selling between 7k and 11k without touching top 40, 27 weeks and counting!

August 2, 20222 yr Fascinating data sets from KOS as ever above! To think how much these stats have risen in the streaming era; it tells quite a story in itself. And lest we forget, had the chart not been manipulated to remove anything beyond the third biggest track per artist and accelerate decline by the ACR rule since July 2017, the numbers would surely be even higher.
