Love at First Sight has made every tour list since its release which indicates Kylie enjoys performing the song.

Another 10/10 single from 'Fever'; utterly euphoric and joyous, huge sing-along chorus and a simple, positive message. I love that choppy, French house style production and that "it was love..." refrain that evokes Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love'. I reckon it's firmly Top 5 out of all Kylie's back catalogue for me and I've noticed friends of mine who are non-Kylie fans often pick this as their favourite.

The music video is simplistic yet so eye-catching and memorable. The silver/white aesthetic just suits the vibe of 'Fever', as does the robotic movements and the Excel-esque graphics; it feels very slick and futuristic. Kylie dancing towards the camera is really engaging, as Jay said, and I think her image is spot on. I remember as a kid being drawn to the earrings and bracelet with her initials on, I thought they were really cool.

Sometimes I wonder how it would have done if it had been the second single instead of In Your Eyes. It sounded great over the summertime though, so I think it was well timed in that respect.

I've wondered this too. It opened with 80k compared to 52k for 'In Your Eyes' which is a pretty big difference. You could argue 'In Your Eyes' was still being overshadowed by 'Head', but this had the disadvantage of being the third single from an album that had already passed 1m and, unbelievably, didn't have any UK TV performances! It definitely was perfect for a summer release so maybe that helped, plus the fact the Blue Monday remix of 'Head' was on the CD might have as that had built up decent airplay. I wonder if the fact Elvis vs. JXL opened with 243k meant more people in the shops so they purchased Kylie too?

A perfect pop song.

What was the reason for the US radio remix? Looking back, it sounds even more out of place for the time than the original.

Ive always felt it should have been the 2nd single ahead of in your eyes as i think its much the stronger of the two but overall it probably wouldnt have made a huge difference although in your eyes might have got a number 2 peak instead of 3.

That US radio mix is awful, I've always hated it. It sucks all the joy and energy out of the song and turns it into a cheesefest.

For a time one of my local radio stations started playing that over the original version.

Oh... I actually don't mind the US remix at all! It's certainly not as edgy/cool as the original, but I think it has a fun energy to it nevertheless.

I wonder if we might see a Gold certification for 'Love at First Sight' soon-ish. When we got an update of all her singles in July/August 2019, 'Spinning Around' was on 360,879 and passed Gold (400k) 57 weeks later, meaning it averaged ~686 units per week. 'Love at First Sight' was on 264,218 in the 2019 update and was averaging more on a weekly basis (also just ahead of 'Spinning Around' when the OCC revealed Kylie's most streamed songs in April 2018). Going by the trend of 'Spinning Around', 'Love at First Sight' must be on at least 370k, so maybe around this time next year it could be Gold?
Wow can't believe this is 20 years old, I feel so anicent. Remember when this came out with its classy production & cool synth melodies that made this an instant firm fave upon the album's release & knew it was gonna be a HUGE hit. While the 'Fever' album was defined by the success of it's mammoth lead single, however it was this song that would have a greater influence across her later releases in terms of formula with such songs as 'Wow', 'Get Outta My Way' & 'Sexy Love', each of these borrowing elements from this track, but not quite as polished.

Excellent points, the song certainly influenced later Kylie releases moreso than Can't Get You Out of My Head.
