Hello and welcome to the landmark 20th edition of Club Bizarre. After many years in the wilderness I managed to win a BuzzJack contest again when Anjo's Tears In The Rain, an obscure trance beauty that topped my personal chart in 2002, won over the CB voters in the 2000s edition. Please

if you missed it. This has given me a chance to dust off the Excel spreadsheet ready to host...Club Bizarre Vol.20: Dark!



Entries for this can be quite broad but please make sure that - firstly, it is linked to dance music in some way in terms of its production, and secondly, it generally fits the theme of being 'dark' in its sound. So you might think of Prodigy-esque rave, menacing synths, lots of minor chord changes, witch house, some slap house, spooky trance (e.g. Nightmare by Brainbug), industrial dance, or crunching electro (e.g. Waters of Nazareth by Justice), or even something that is darker lyrically. Remixes are also permitted if the mix itself has made a track sound darker or moodier.

There's quite a lot of free rein here and some leeway will be given, as what qualifies as dark is likely to be quite subjective but let's see what turns up. Please ask if there are any questions though or if you are unsure. Hopefully there should be a wide spread of dance genres and influences represented here!

Rules:

> Do not send anything that is already popular - please avoid big chart hits, like the aforementioned Brainbug track
> Songs that have been sent to previous editions of Club Bizarre, BJSC, or Unknown Pleasures are not allowed
> This contest is anonymous so please don't reveal your entry to anybody - I will announce who sent what during the results
> Please confirm your entry via PM to me (gooddelta), including the name of the artist, the song title, a YouTube etc link, and if you can, a short explanation (a sentence is fine) on why you believe your entry fits the 'Dark' theme

Confirmations will be open until Tuesday 12th July at 23.59pm BST, so just over a week, and the voting thread should open at some stage on Wednesday 13th July, with the results/reveal currently likely to take place on Monday 25th July.

Dark??? I am SO here for this and very excited to see what people choose :cheeseblock:

Ah I have a couple of songs on my potentials playlist that fits the bill here so will have to decide!

Have several dark hardstyle / rawstyle tracks on my playlist, but I won't send any of them since it is a little bit obvious I'm a hardstyle fan. :lol:

Six confirmations so far, and some deliciously dark sounds on offer already. It would be great to get more in although appreciate this theme might require more of a search than others so a lot will come closer to the deadline!

 

I've got a few possible options myself but still scoping around - some excellent playlists on Spotify if you type in keywords like 'dark dance', 'dark electro', 'Psytrance' etc...

So far I've been dogged by the fact that everything I think of just uses edgy artwork instead of actually having dark sounds. :kink:
