If that’s the case then I don’t know why we bother with any democratic votes as when it doesn’t go the right way the other side will always argue black is white.

It’s a pointless arguement, the world has moved on and everyone else knows we have left the Eu.

Because the Leave campaign broke electoral law. In other words, it wasn't a democratic vote. That's why it would have been annulled if it was binding.

Brexit was a trial run for Trump in the USA, Russia and Russian-backed billionaires, and the corrupt Cumbridge Anal Lickita (RIP) were all involved. This is not fiction from miserable stroppy Remoaners, it's a fact. I know it's annoying that people will keep on referencing it when it's done and dusted. We have accepted the result as it would just escalate the misery and tear the country apart (even more than it did) and make us even worse off than we have become due to promises not being fulfilled. But they lied through their teeth about everything and pointing out the inconvenient truth is a "told you so" fairly-reasonable response to a corrupt campaign (and reminds people about the liars) People are still suffering now as a result, not least dying. Ambulances turning up hours late, Johnson doing nothing about massive Covid deaths till he was forced to. People like me being put in the position where we volunteered do all the caring for ailing parents at home as they'd just get ignored in hospitals and left to die as they dont have the staff. Doctors told me that. Nurses told me that. And Figures don't lie.

So, "I told you Johnson was a liar" is small compensation and I'd point out his own party just booted him out because he's a liar. That's how much of a liar he is - even his own Tory acolytes couldnt take it anymore. Only took 6 years to get there, but better late than never.

Guck OFF with that SHITE TORY EVIÑ PROPAGANDA!!! IT ID NOT wiLL oF ThE PerPErlLLLL. It wss a f***ing 50 50 split!!!!

Whispers to Michael. 51.9-48.1. Wiki confirms this. Almost a 4% majority then.

We haven’t quite moved on yet though, have you not seen the news today?

The delays in Dover were nothing to do with Brexit despite people sitting in their cars and lorries saying they were. There weren't enough staff in France to do the checks. Simple as that.

Some officials in the Foreign Office now think the French did it on purpose to punish us for Brexit. :o

What a very brexiteer response. Funny how this was never an issue before Brexit.

Checks that are only necessary because we aren't in the EU.

We can now only spend 90 days in any 180-day period in the Schengen area. That can only be monitored if passports are checked and stamped. That is the fault of the UK, not France.

Soo a 50 50 split then ;) f*** off qith that brexshitter propaganda. It was a 50/50 split based on lies ans 80% touth support ro remain. Lol. Oops.

Ans f*** off with this brexshitter propaganda. The UK is to blame dor all of this. Accept it. Your brexshit is a failure :')

a friend of mine on Twitter:

(- World-class burn from the MP for Calais being quizzed on Sky News just now:

"I thought Brexit was about taking back control. That's what we're doing.")

Passport checks for foreigners works both ways unless you're advocating we just let people into the country without checking them first? Cos isn't that what Brexit was all about? People still pissed off at more foreigners boating into the country now France isn't obliged to keep them in camps like they were when we were in the EU...that turned out well then, forward planning not a thing with the people demanding the Hard Brexit we got.....

Take it up with Boris Johnson it's his agreement. He has a lot of time on his hands shortly I'm sure he can find the time to answer the question!

(BTW there are queues into the UK when you go abroad, even when everyone on the plane is a British citizen, and they check your passport, scan it in, check your photo, ask where you've been, what you've been doing: "take your hat off please" followed by a parade in between rows of customs men with dogs sniffing your luggage.

And yet getting into Spain is a piece of piss in comparison. Smooth and efficient as long as youve filled in the online forms)

Just saying.

Truss attempts to show her human side and claim to be one of the people by saying she loves 80s music especially Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark. Which shows she's never listened to the lyrics of a Springsteen song, she stands for everything he criticises. Mind you, the way she flip flops her views based on which will get her in power it's not surprising she's blissfully unaware. I'd put a bet on her actual fave record from the 80s being Loadsamoney, that Harry Enfield Thatcherism-inspired 'classic'.
Right, how is it that they knocked out the field from 7 to 2 in a week, but now it's going to be 2 until the autumn when Johnson resigns??

summer recess + logistics of getting all the Conservative membership to vote.

ideally given the circumstances they'd actually have put Raab in as caretaker while they held this contest but I guess they don't see the contradiction in saying the PM can't go on in office and then giving him time to clean up shop while they elect

The "We should have kept Johnson" campaign will grow legs, especially with the press running polls about it on a regular basis (which in itself is a very destructive thing the press are doing but that is their very nature) and doubt he'll do anything to stop it as his ego won't accept he's finished. Especially as he's beating Truss and Sunak.
I guess they must feel it's necessary to have six weeks of them both boring us to death with their campaigning.

That plus both candidates being egged on by our facist press to go more to the right than at all possible over the 6 weeks to appeal to the Tory membership who have had a a large UKIP/Britain First injection over last few years as "moderate" Tories have left . Look at the expansion of the Rwanda scheme headlines over the weekend as an example.

He will run again in the future, I'm 99.9% sure. The members love him and if Sunak/Truss get beaten in a general election they will panic.

„Simple as that“ moron. The only thing simple is firstly how wrong you are, secondly how far removed from the fact you are and three your mind.

The UK gov denied the French their request to double capacity for checks at Dover. Checks that are only necessary because of Brexit. This queue is entirely and solely related to Brexit and the uk government and if you believe anything else then honestly I’m amazed you have the intellectual capacity to use a computer

The Daily Mail was having the same headlines in the 30's and 40's. Only it was Jewish people escaping fascism and concentration camps then that they wanted to chuck out. They never change. Unless they are rich, then they will take anything, anyhow, anyway and say "thank you sir can I please have more?" Everyone needs to realise they want a servile poor workforce they can order about and control with a few well-placed headlines and articles packed with lies while the owners of the papers get richer and richer sitting in their non-UK chateaux's and avoiding UK tax.

He likes to think he's Churchill, who got booted out after the war, and came back again 5 years later. I'm sure his ego is massive enough to think he has saved the nation from the commie EU and that he will be begged to come back after the Tories lose the next election having cocked up the economy for years to come, then when it improves under a Labour Government try and persuade everyone thats its all down to him and his Hard Brexit that things are getting better. "It just 10 years to start to improve".

Thing is, everyone knows he's still a liar. About everything. And everyone needs to keep on reminding everyone that he's a habitual liar no matter how many years go by. Besides he'll be raking in a fortune on the cash-cow lecture circuit by then, and no doubt be on his 4th or 5th wife and hordes of kids to pay for, so he may have far too much to give up for all the hard work that he tried his best to avoid.... :teresa:

„Simple as that“ etc

There's nothing that'll help change minds more than intimating that they only voted a certain way or hold a certain view or ask a question is because they are stupid. Surefire vote winner there, though I in any case prefer to think of it as having an unhealthy trusting nature in people who lie to them. Given most of my family also voted for Brexit, and I've calmly explained to close friends this week that it's not cos they hate us, it's cos they need to make the same passport checks we insist on, I'd better advise them all to stay off BJ as the people on here have brains the size of planets, not like you lot.

It's called a democratic right to voice an opinion, and I think Suedey and myself fairly comprehensively replied without feeling the need to insult. Maybe you'd like to go out an personally insult the rest of the majority of the country who voted for Brexit (and who, I should say, mostly still live here and are dealing with the aftermath on a day to day basis)? Chris has never to my knowledge made a personal insult towards anyone, and he's taken a lot of stick for exercising his right to an opinion. I think that gives him the moral highground....

If you'd like to rethink the wording of your post I'm happy to delete this one fairly quickly

Anyone just watched the BBC1 debate? Truss miles ahead already they say. She's won this already. Third female PM.

Did you know they can vote multiple times and keep changing their minds? Only the last vote received counts though. They get two voting forms sent in case they mess one up but can request more from Central Office.
