I think in times of economic crisis with no sign of change people will always blame others and some just wanted to be anti establishment as it’s the only voice they had which was to punch them in this instance. Bit like the Scottish referendum in 2014!

Truss' Wikipedia makes interesting reading. Basically she thinks everyone should specialise in Maths and accountancy because she and her husband went that route and her dad was a leftie professor of Maths. Speaking as someone who has never needed a degree in maths for any job (O level Maths was enough) that's a stupid philosophy (which she studied as a degree) and that kinda explains the social awkwardness - not so good at the Arts and social skills, happier with numbers and simplistic views like her current "cut taxes" as a solution to something which other more experienced colleagues point out is only a solution to making well-off more well-off. She has a history of changing her mind on all sorts of things in her ever-rightward life-journey, and the mother of two had an affair with her MP boss. Very much the Conservative way to get ahead and network, then.....

in the gift that just keeps giving, Sunak reveals that he thinks not enough old (and younger) people died during Covid because we insisted on kids being kept out of school. OK thats not how he's expressing it, but we all know kids are the biggest spreaders of diseases. I think we can all agree that giving kids a free pass on exams was inexcusable and that missed year has frankly turned all those poor kids into mindless zombies that they'll never recover from such a hideous experience. (Note I frequently missed school coursework being an RAF brat, ever-changing schools at the wrong time, so I know all about being a permanent lifelong brain-dead zombie as a result - and I never got a free pass for missed coursework and syllabuses, my exam grades were just lower than they might have been)

I'm sure Sunak will be greatly relieved to hear that both my parents died despite his attempt to bring the date forward a couple of years and cut the NHS capability to respond to everyone's needs. Truss of course intends to block the hole they made in support for those in need (not that my parents got a single thing from the state) by making the NHS poorer (which at least used to keep people alive eg when dad had stents fixed after his heart attack) before they gave up on old people as a bad job.

If I sound bitter, I am. I hate the pair of them for what they've done and intend to do. Basically he's trying to appeal to parents of kids for saying he wouldve looked after their little darlings by keeping schools open, and inadvertently also saying he'd have helped them get rid of the parents and grandparents still clinging on beyond 65 when all reasonable plebs should shuffle off this mortal coil in order to keep taxes lower and the NHS underfunded.

Desperate last-minute attempt for power.

Just as you start really wanting Sunak to pull off a very unlikely victory against the right wing press's support of Truss, he says something like that :(
Yes basically lockdown were the only sensible way to prevent hundreds of thousands of more deaths until a vaccine became available and yet these experts who kept are safe are being demonised by the rampant hate filled ideology of the right wing of this country. Problem with not defeating this beast is that it gets hungrier and addicted to finding more groups to attack and savage.

Sunak will be bad PM and playing to the galleries but at least he's sane. Truss is certifiable, evil and won't stop at anything to get her demands. The only hope is that the Public think she's horrendous and because of fear of losing their seats maybe enough MPs will try to stop the worst of her excesses.

So, assuming Truss has won as Sky News are now claiming, all over bar the announcement on Monday, this will be her likely cabinet agreed so far.

Chancellor - Kwasi Kwarteng

Home Sec. - Suella Brevermann

Foreign Sec. - James Cleverley

Education - Kemi Badenoch

Chief Whip - Therese Coffey

Sajid Javid - Northern Ireland Sec.

Levellng Up - Rees- Mogg.

She's apparently offered Health to Sunak but it's thought he'll refuse so Zahawi will take it. Feel sorry for him, just 3 months as Chancellor.

Priti Patel -OUT.

She hates Gove so no job for him.

I think at this point she is completely fucked. Rees-Mogg as Levelling Up minister

I see we are due to continue the tradition of giving the incredibly important position of Foreign Secretary, how we, you know, present ourselves to the world, to some of the stupidest people in the governing party.

Chancellor will be just as much a poisoned chalice as PM, I'd rather see Zahawi go under as he's, like Sunak, potentially one of the more insidiously dangerous Tories for the future.

That really is the most depressing line-up of scum I have ever seen in one list.

This is the dream team. For the opposition. It's the answer to the question "what would be the dumbest, most-extreme, least-capable, most-sociopathological unsympathetic bunch of posh-toffs in politics today in modern history?" And considering the previous bunch that's quite saying something.

It says something when Priti Patel is seen as not extreme enough for your cabinet.
Badenoch to reintroduce a homophobic Section 28 equivalent in 1-2-3.
