Aphrodite it’s much more a cohesive sounding album. Light Years and X are more fun of course.

'Light Years' again.

'Aphrodite' is one of my favourites though; it holds a special place in my heart as it was the first Kylie era I was old enough to properly follow from start to finish. It was my soundtrack to summer 2010 and is an album I often return to this time of year. It's such a joyous, summery listen!

Aphrodite remains a great album, and i remember there was a great buzz around it when it was released its just the momentum faded fast but with the singles it really was the start of changing chart fortunes for Kylie and the record label didnt really know how to adapt, but as a body of work its a very solid album and a real feel good summer album.
Voted for Aphrodite, its such a fantastic album & a return to form for Kylie after the messy & uneven previous 2 albums. Thankfully she kept things simple on here, just a solid dance/pop album which was a resounding success which was further enhanced with the 'Aphrodite Les Folies' world tour. The lead single 'All The Lovers' was absolutely the perfect choice as it sums up the euphoria of the album beautifully & extended Kylie's reign on the charts into the new decade. The album's core strength lies in its tightly cohesive structrure, although there are a few tracks that differs from the formula, but even they adds more flair to this joyful collection of tracks.

The album has several highlights apart from the lead single such as "Get Outta My Way", "Closer", "Aphrodite", "Cupid Boy" & "Put Your Hands Up".

I 100% agree all the lovers was the perfect choice of lead single, and does sum up the euphoria of the album but as i love the track nothing else from the album came close, but i have always separated them as for me all the lovers was so good i knew nothing would match it on the album as its become one of my fave ever Kylie songs. This was also the time of Kylies last huge hit and indeed extended her reign on the charts into yet another decade, there are so many good songs on the album and to be fair you have listed my own faves in your post although with get outta my way i like it but on a much lesser level than most other fans do. For me Kylie hit kinda a bum note on the 2 albums that followed and then recovered in style when she released Golden.

Light Years is just a different level for me though, and i suppose alot of my love for the album was how i proud i was of Kylie in how she turned her career around in full circle, seeing Kylie back at number 1 in the singles chart for me was a huge moment as in the couple of years prior to its release she was written off, those midweeks were nerve wrecking to say the least and i remember dying for the chart to be announced so that Kylie was confirmed for number 1. I was super excited buying light years and i literally enjoyed the album from the very first listen and still do all these years later. Light Years is one of the few Kylie albums where i feel many of the album tracks were better than the singles, while the singles picked worked i always prefered other songs and was disappointed when they didnt get picked. I really wish Light Years had gone number 1 but it does feel like it was a number 1 due to the reversed fortunes in sales as from studio albums it was her biggest selling album since Enjoy Yourself.

It's a shame Aphrodite was released at a time when physical album sales started to freefall, it did well to make it to Platinum.

It's a much better representation of Kylie as an artist, it has elements of many of her previous albums in there, wrapped up in a quality production. Better than Today should NEVER have been used to promote it over bloody December 2010....Aphrodite, Closer, PYHU much stronger songs to sell the album.

I think the label messed up a bit with the album, the campaign died fairly quickly and as much as i like better than today it was a huge mistake as the 3rd single, that underperforming scared them off releasing anything else. The album done well to make platinum but its a shame it didnt manage a little more as its a strong album.

I dunno, it's easy to say in hindsight what could have been done differently (and I do agree 'Better Than Today' was a mistake and a pointless choice), but at that point I think she was just fading out in terms of singles chart success and Radio 1 had dropped her etc, I'm not sure it could have really been avoided. Same thing happened with a lot of female pop artists at the exact same time - Britney and Madonna for example.

It was painful to watch, but it was always gonna happen someday.

Ya hindsight is always great and as we know it was the start of Kylie and many other like her fading in terms of chart success and while its awful we were lucky to have had so many great years of Kylie doing so well and nowadays its great that she still does well on the album chart. Really close vote in this round, its far closer than i expected.
I think the moment it became apparent that Kylie's chart success was fading was when 'Get Outta My Way' missed the top 10, then it only got worse & worse after that. Obviously if it was released during the 00's, then it would have been a sure fire top 10 or hell even top 5, with the lead 'All The Lovers' going #1. But the 2010 decade saw a lot of changes in the music landscape & a lot of acts started to struggle getting hits, i.e. Madonna.

Obviously after 'GOMW' missed the top 10, the label panicked & made a lot of bad choices, by picking a terrible 3rd single 'Better Than Today', which despite some high profile performances such as X-Factor, Children In Need, Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball & The Royal Variety, it barely scrapped the top 40. Maybe a better 3rd single such as 'Put Your Hands Up' or 'Aphrodite' could have managed
top 20 peak =16-#19 maybe. But her downfall was gonna happen whatever the circumstances.

I know everyone disagrees but i think get outta my way was the wrong choice for 2nd single and same with better than today as 3rd single, put your hands up, cupid boy or Aphrodite would have been a better 2nd and 3rd single and get outta my way the 4th and final single but most fans i know completely disagree with that so im probably wrong. I think Kylies chart success was coming to end after all the lovers and in all likelihood nothing would have done better than get outta my way going number 12. I think at that time kylies team didnt fully know how to adapt to the changes in the market and that got worse as the singles went on (timebomb) another example. All the lovers did far better than i expected, for me it deserved even more success but for that time i think Kylie done very well to get such a big hit.

I like to believe that there is some tiny tiny chance Kylie could have a hit again (i know its more unlikely than likely), sometimes all it takes is for a song to used on the right show like the recent Kate Bush success or the right remix featuring another artist like Elton John did, none of would have predicted Kate Bush and Elton John having number 1 singles just over a year ago and if it was suggested most of us would have said it will only happen if the horrible news of them of them passing happened and thankfully that didnt happen for them to get Number 1's.

For me Kylie hit kinda a bum note on the 2 albums that followed and then recovered in style when she released Golden.

Took me a good minute to figure out what Kylie released between 'Kiss Me Once' and 'Golden'!

I'm surprised to see this so close, I thought 'Aphrodite' would pick up a fair few votes but thought 'Light Years' would ultimately be ahead.

Its easy to forget the Christmas album as though its a studio album its not the same as all her other studio albums.
One Christmas album is enough it is not something I would like Kylie to revisit but it served the needs at the time.
