In reality it's because the OCC doesn't want everyone to know that all Mel's albums have in fact sold 5 million each and she is the biggest selling music act ever! cheeseblock

Adele is secretly forcing the OCC to not publish Melanie's numbers, what a bitch!

Australia second week:

#122 Album Chart

#41 Physical

#24 Digital

Looks like plummeting down the charts is an Australian thing too. 😭

Streaming continues to be her downfall and I'm not sure how she can combat it tbh.

It’ll always be an uphill battle for acts like Mel etc., - they could’ve tried a bit more with streaming this era though, with Melanie C album we had acoustics verse this time where they just seemed to throw out the singles and that was it.

This was the main issue. They completely left streaming... in her DJ era, why is she not doing remixes of the singles like any other pop girl has been doing and throwing out there?

Accoustic versions did help last time..

but to be honest unless you are streamed by the dozens of millions, it might not really pay off anyway?...

Think we can safely assume that it's not in the Top 200 for a third week!

It would also be safe to say that the reason it managed to be Top100 in the second week is because of the delay in shipping of so many of its pre-sales. Good game there eheh

With how well the album sold in its first week, I’m surprised UMG isn’t willing to get her on a main Spotify playlist. I’m sure Drum Machine would do well.

So I recently found out that it is not as simple as that (maybe unless you are a Taylor Swift or a Harry Styles, that is lol).

The record label has to submit the songs for consideration at Spotify, and the team there decide which songs make it, and to what playlists. Seems like the streaming platforms just didn't take to the songs maybe?!....

Spotify is never going to playlist someone like Melanie C sadly. It’s really unfair as it just means artists of her calibre can never get hits while back in the day with radio and physicals artists of the same ilk could get top 40s / 75s here and there.

I lost all interest in the charts when streaming playlists were allowed to count it’s not a reflection of what people are listening to any more than when everyone listened to radio. 🤷‍♂️

TBH sure, but they did do support her with the last album, so it wouldnt be so far fetched for them to support with this new one either. Spotify just didn't touch the songs at all this time...

Did they? I seem to remember Blame it on me acoustic being put on some random playlist but nothing on any major playlists that would have an impact?

I’m not surprised Spotify is just a major gatekeeper. I find it hard to believe there’s no payola involved with these major playlists. You look at some of them and have to wonder.
