OK I went back to the album and my god Flick of the Wrist might be one of her best songs ever!

A proper tune, well crafted overall.

So far, I am taking:

Drum Machine

Pressure

Cashmere

Flick of the Wrist

Stunning, surprising songs overall. I know Cashmere is not everyone's favourite but I like its vibe and makes me happy, and I loooooove when she sings 'honey' in the second verse, it is heart melting.

The rest is still not clicking with me.

For me the highlights are

One Track Mind

Drum Machine

Pressure

Til It Breaks

Flick of the Wrist

The rest of the album is hit and miss. I would keep Sweat, Cashmere and Emotional Memory since they are decent. The rest should have been replaced with better songs. She needed 4 more amazing songs to really elevate the album into something special. As the album stands it’s just an average dance pop album.

I didn't know she had more signings today, are there any more, could it be she might manage to chart again this week.

I think it depends on when the sales for these counted. They probably counted last week when the CD's / Vinyls were 'dispatched' or marked as allocated.

It happens often when artists are pushing they announce shows / signings etc beyond the release week but they actually count in the week it's being pushed.

I'm sure there's a chance if the cassette's registered this week, the signings count for this week and there's still a bit of a buzz?

Am I the only one who thinks the backing vocals on Cashmere sound like the Spice Girls? One sounds like Mel B, the other Emma.. and there is a moment when the voice is a mix between Geri and Victoria. I know it’s not the girls, but it seems they used some AI to make it sound like that on purpose.

Cashmere is popular on YOUTUBE !! Smashing it compared to the other tracks!

So after listening to the album non-stop for the last week I think this is my rating so far:

  1. What could possibly go wrong 10 / 10

  2. Drum machine 10 / 10

  3. Emotional memory 10 / 10

  4. Free to love 9 / 10

  5. Cashmere 9 / 10

  6. Flick of the wrist 9 / 10

  7. Good for nothing 9 / 10

  8. Attitude 8 / 10

  9. Til it breaks 7 / 10

  10. Sweat 6 / 10

  11. Pressure 6 /10

  12. Undefeated champion 5 / 10

  13. One track mind 5 / 10

I'd say it's a solid 8 / 10 album for me, with the possibility to go up to 9 / 10 with more listens (or down to 7 / 10)

Early ranking against other albums

  1. Northern Star 10 / 10

  2. The Sea 9 / 10 (beautiful mind the one that stops it being a 10 for me)

  3. Melanie C 8 / 10

  4. Sweat 8 / 10

  5. Beautiful Intentions 8 / 10

  6. Reason / This Time (both have highs but also lows Soul boy and I want candy ffs) 6 / 10

  7. Version of me (I feel this is her worse studio effort for me there's only a few tracks I ever listen to now) 4 / 10

  1. Stages (I pretend this one doesn't exist lol) 2 / 10

I think Sweat is going to overtake Melanie C very soon tbf, the only think stopping it being a solid 9 right now is it's missing the Melanie ballads that I adore, but for the reason that it wouldn't fit the style or theming of the album tbf.

Coop radios favourite seems to be

What could possibly go wrong

Given the amount they have played it this week 🤣

They have great taste then 🥰

#25 in Switzerland

It becomes her second lowest charting album there, but charts much better than 'Melanie C'

  1. This Time #8

  2. Northern Star #12

  3. The Sea #13

  4. Beautiful Intentions #14

  5. Reason #21

  6. Version Of Me #24

  7. Sweat #25

  8. Melanie C #50

Wow at This Time being her highest charting album over there, a shame Melanie C ruined her run of top 30 charting albums.
