I'm really surprised Kneecap have pulled further ahead with all Mel's been doing.

It’s a political record and they’ve been whipping their fans into a frenzy saying Starmer etc., won’t want them to have the #1 🙄

Clearly I'm in my own "Spice Bubble" but I've not seen/heard anything about what Kneecap are doing to get these sales! 😮

Why oh why did there have to be a Michael Jackson mania going on right now? 😭 It's such unfortuante timing to run into him having a major streaming boost.

Of course I should keep it in perspective that Melanie's sales are great. With 15,379 sold so far, that is already higher sales than all bar one #3 album sales in 2026 (the highest selling #3 is Bruno Mars on 18,547 - every other #3 has been achieved with less than 15,000 sales).

In the Skindred/Jessie Ware week, as of the Wednesday midweeks, they'd sold 13,709 and 12,452 respectively (final sales on Friday - Skindred: 20,414 and Jessie Ware: 18,582). So both of those albums had achieved 67% of their overall sales for the week as of the Wednesday midweeks. Perhaps Melanie C will be more frontloaded than that though... I think Jessie Ware did her Banquet signings later than Melanie did hers?

It would be fantastic if Melanie could push for a 20,000+ first week, even if that ultimately results in a #3. If she sells more than 17,773 (Northern Star's first week sales), it would make Sweat her second highest first week sales as a solo artist (her best is 30,876 with Reason).

Don't think the six new launch shows are included, cassettes from website some of banquet orders and probably the cds with 2 become 1 lyric sheet signed so plenty more sales to be added last minute.

York has sold out so that’s 300 sales to come, definitely more Banquet as the CDs are still available to order.

I think cassette bundles and the lyric sheets like you say still have to be included too.

If she remains at #3 she’ll end up with sales that would secure a #1 in many other weeks 🥴

Kneecap are currently leading the race. They are an Irish catholic republican band with a big following.

There is a massive divide in Scotland between Celtic (catholic/republican) and Rangers (Protestant/loyalist) fans.

Do you think it would be a good idea to post on Rangers fans forums encouraging them to buy Sweat and stop Kneecap getting to number 1?

I genuinely think there are enough people on those forums that would want to do that. It might genuinely close the gap if they buy the album on iTunes which is now £4.99 (I think)

Any Scots on here care to share a view?

I don’t condone the sectarianism between both. But maybe a little to get a number 1 album 🙈

I love this dedication 😂

I was hoping she might get another top 20 there! 💔

Me too as Germany is always a good market for her and Version Of Me got to #34 and Melanie C got to #27 so thought Sweat might continue the trend and chart higher.

A lot of her German fans are pissed though she’s cancelled Berlin in favour of UK promo (understandable from her POV but also from theirs).

I just hope there are lots of sales added tomorrow for a last min massive boost to try secure #2 as I've accepted #1 is out of reach now sadly (*sings it like Gabrielle*)

The gap is currently 1.858 between Kneecap and Mel.

Why do I still think she can surpass them?

Ooh that gaps actually widened if its true 😮 hopefully she has more unaccounted for sales

Remember:

None of the intimate shows have been added (December dates)

None of the signed Lyric sheet bundles / cassettes have been added

There's more Banquet orders to add on

Apparently there's still a fair few outstanding orders from her store

So I think she will probably chart at 3 but there's loads of sales to be added (But Kneecap are doing 4x her streaming so it's very unlikely she can overtake them)

Yeah someone put shes on 16k in the FCP thread so theres no way shes dropping below 3, MJ already up to 2 as well

Rangers are f***ing racists, please don't engage with those bast*rds for the sake of a few extra streams.

a #3 is a great achievement for any Spice project in 2026 to be honest. She should be very proud, specially that she will have already outsold her previous records since Beautiful Intentions, in the space of two weeks!

In fact it is the highest entry for any Spice-related album since Forever was released in 2000! That's crazy and well deserved!

2007 - The Greatest Hits was also #2. ☺️

Yeah, you’re absolutely right.

We’ve spent years seeing Spice solo albums debut much lower in the charts, and now we’re going to be disappointed if she doesn’t get #1? A #3 would’ve been unthinkable not that long ago.

It’s already a huge achievement and something to be really proud of. The fact she’s still doing this and getting these results almost 30 years into her career is amazing.

Her team have done well and so have the fans. SC says KC also released a deluxe digital version …..

Enjoy the music and the top 3 position!!

Yes, I meant more like 'new albums' you know?... But I get the point.

Yeah to be fair a number 3 or 2 would be amazing. Would be the highest ever solo spice album, and it being her 9th solo so far into her career and amazing opening week sales will be a huge achievement either way no matter what happens!

However it is also kind of slightly annoying knowing she’s so close in reach but it is what it is!

I would love to know the international sales as well.
