I heard about half of this on Radio 1 yesterday and based on that... unless it gets a lot better in the second half this is not even in the same universe as 'SPACE MAN', sounded pretty safe and bland sadly. Although safe and bland is a bit of a winning formula in the charts sometimes lol ~ This is off to a fairly good start on Apple Music, I would not rule out it being a slow burning Tom Grennan style hit.
I thought he’d have released something a bit more rock-y after all the Space Man performances. I enjoy it though and it still seems like a song that’s a crowd pleaser, I can see it peaking around #27.

If you fancy that, he’s got a few albums with the various rock bands he was briefly in!

I would hate to see Somebody miss the Top 100.

it’s a solid song but yeah it’s not in the same league as Space Man
I definitely wouldn’t write it off yet, it’s not like he has a big fanbase yet. I think it’ll be a slow burner with more promo.

This - he seems to have a good team behind him, I’m sure we’ll get remixes and more promo.

Also wouldn’t be surprised if we got a CD single, I know there was more interest in a SM physical due to ESC but they released an ESC and a Jubilee CD single and both sold out.

I think a good live performance of this somewhere would do it wonders. I could see him getting a performance on Strictly so I think it might be a bit of a slow burner.

This and The One Show hopefully - they had him on for Space Man and the BBC seem to be supporting a Eurovision act for once so hopefully he’ll have a chance at appearing on both.

Awful song.

But why on earth is Sam Ryder in pop whilst Coldpop are not? Coldpop only had 3 1/2 indie albums, rest pop and commercial.

Love that the BBC are finally getting behind a UK ESC act - this is how we’ll attract great songwriters and performers in the future.

It does help that his best friend is Scott Mills who has supported his music on Radio 1 since 2020. A lot of artists would not get Tune of the Weekend on Radio 1 and playlisted on Radio 2 on day 1 of its release.

I quite enjoy the song but it's a bridge for him so I don't think it's going to be promoted to death to make it an instant chart hit. It would be well within the means of Parlophone/Warner Music to promote on Instagram and Sam hasn't promoted it much either on TikTok or Instagram. He's releasing the song with David Guetta and Sigala very soon and has his album (with pre-orders from the Eurovision buzz) and UK/European tour so he's doing fine.

The funny thing is there was a lot of criticism from the UK public when Space Man was released and the song didn't enter the Spotify chart until 13 May 2022. People are hearing it as it's going up the Shazam chart. Music is consumed differently now unless it's a hit on TikTok many songs (like that underrated Tom Grennan song) are slow burners. From what I recall even Green Green Grass wasn't an immediate hit.

New single next Friday -

Where did he write this? I missed it.

I've heard a clip of the song it has David Guetta's fingerprints all over it and Sam and Sigala seem to get on well.
