November 18, 20222 yr Last Train is my favorite of the Stadium House Trilogy but What Time is Love is also 10/10.
November 18, 20222 yr ALL ABOARD ALL ABOARD *.* The KLF's singles run is pretty much flawless. I'm so glad they have representation on streaming platforms now <3 'Song 2' is a 90s classic of course!
November 18, 20222 yr Oh what a score for Song 2 *.* Forever one of my favourite chart facts is that it actually charted at number 2, a fab song as well x I thought KLF would be a lot higher, although I guess Justified and Ancient got the lion's share of the points. Tubthumping is an anthem, glad it did very well here. I do prefer My Favourite Game from the Cardigans, but Lovefool is iconic, it only just missed my votes.
November 19, 20222 yr Author NO 16- 258 POINTS Groove Is In The Heart Deee-Lite (Voters: Dot Mirrorball- 11pts, Fiesta- 21pts, Riser- 15pts, Chez Wombat- 10pts, West- 19pts, Jason- 18pts, Torple- 4pts, Mack- 6pts, Leonardo- 28pts, AH Gold- 13pts, popchartfreak- 11pts, DircaDirca- 24pts, Chartjack2- 21pts, Jade- 15pts, Jester- 16pts, Dandy*- 26pts) (#2 for 2 weeks in September 1990 behind “The Joker” by Steve Miller Band) Famously denied the No 1 spot by 8 copies, this nevertheless attracted a new rate record of 16 voters (that’s just over half of you voters) and is officially 1990’s favourite No 2 on Buzzjack zUx2jkIh4zY
November 19, 20222 yr Author NO 15- 266 POINTS Sunchyme Dario G (Voters: Waspbre- 22 pts, Daan- 28 pts, Jimwatts- 6pts, Chez Wombat- 30 pts, Colm- 9pts, King Rollo- 18pts, Julian T- 20pts, Gooddelta- 22pts, Roba!- 22pts, West- 1pt, Jason- 22pts, Narcow- 12pts, Jade- 28pts, Jester- 13pts, Dandy*- 13 pts) (#2 for 2 weeks in September/ October 1997 behind “Candle In The Wind 97/ Something About The Way You Look Tonight”- Elton John) This song still holds (and will always in all likelihood) the record for being on the receiving end of the biggest difference between the top 2 when it came in roughly 1.4 million behind Elton. It is hwoever our 3rd favourite No 2 of 1997 and Chez Wombat’s favourite of the decade! MYzdxL5-yxU
November 19, 20222 yr Groove is such a bob - easily my favourite early 90s dance song. Sunchyme is such a point in time for me, the weird weeks after Diana’s death. I still adore the video.
November 19, 20222 yr The top 10 looking better as all these dance songs that I didn't vote for, drop out but Stardust isn't one of them?! The last three would all at least have been top 50 for me.
November 19, 20222 yr A few years ago I'd have been surprised by Sunchyme finishing as high as 15th, but I know many people here really like it! It is a warm sunny tune and I still prefer it to Life In A Northern Town which it samples and is also great. 9 songs left for me, I gave them all at least 14 points.
November 19, 20222 yr Sunchyme is such a wonderful, uplifting track. Feels like the inspiration for a lot of the tropical house of the last few years. What did it sell the week it debuted?
November 19, 20222 yr That's a classic indeed. It always take me back to hearing for the first time as a child. Pleasantly surprised it came this high tbh but not complaining one bit. 'Groove Is The Heart' is good but not a major fave of mine. Edited November 19, 20222 yr by Roba!

November 19, 20222 yr I think that's pretty good for Sunchyme as it doesn't feel as much of an all-time classic or still get airplay like some others here, will always be one of my favourite songs, so uplifting and joyful  Though I have no idea what they were thinking releasing same week as Elton as that was just asking for that record x I love the song it samples, Life in a Northern Town, as well <3 Thought Groove is the Heart would be top 10 here!
November 19, 20222 yr That's the first of my top 5 to fall. I love Groove is in the Heart even more now than I did at the time, I think it's aged so well and it never fails to put me in a happy mood when I hear it. Sunchyme is one of those that I didn't buy at the time but did vote for (albeit I probably would have bought it had the extended version not already featured as part of a dance compilation I had) - plus I have retrospectively purchased the 12" regardless. I too prefer it to the original it sampled, it was a really good use and was very unique sounding for dance music in the 90s.
November 19, 20222 yr 'Sunchyme' is the first of my top 5 to drop out :o and my favourite chart hit from the year I was born. It's so soothing and I love the video too. what a shame that it ran into the 'Candle In The Wind' juggernaut. Both of the songs that dropped out today are notable for their gap from #1 of course, with the tantalisingly close 'Groove Is In The Heart' chart battle. I think it's a fun in-your-face dance record, 15 points felt about right. 'Galvanize' was my introduction to Q-Tip and my mind was blown when I suddenly clocked that he was on this song too
