I'd kind of be here for her doing a Carly and just tapping into the fanbase she has and releasing music she wants rather than chasing hits.

But yeah, this is probably my least fave single of hers to date :(.

It’s good (and better than about 95% of the music currently charting), but it’s on par with album tracks from Heaven and Hell, rather than the best singles.

really terrible, her worst single ever

and very poor poor poor use of the sample

The song and the video are both dreadful. Why is she so shouty?

I also can't believe she copied GaGa's mum-mum-mum-mah from Poker Face. :arrr:

What a shame...had such high hopes. This is dreadful and has no melody.
I don't think I've seen a song be this universally panned in so long.

Is the reaction this bad everywhere?

No, the consensus on Popjustice forum is that it’s great/good. A couple are mildly unenthusiastic & the only strongly negative reaction is from our very own Bjork.

I’ve not heard it yet but I’m a little surprised by the opposite reactions here vs. there. How intriguing!

There’s lots of positive reactions on Twitter too.

I’ve now heard it and I’ll have to be Team Popjustice. I don’t understand the negativity at all! It’s yet another reliably solid bop from Ava. The best song ever? No, but a perfectly enjoyable pop song to my ears. I’m assuming it’s the “miracle oh oh oh ohhh” part that’s turned some of you off, but personally I like the drama of her vocal delivery… it’s camp! I also appreciate the 80s inspired flourishes throughout.

It’s not a sample of Can’t Fight the Moonlight. It has a melodic similarity in the chorus which must have made the team give writing credits to Diane Warren to be on the safe side. That makes it an interpolation.

I've now heard it a couple of times and it's definitely not as bad as people are making out. As Jay says it's not the best song ever and it's nowhere near HER best, but it does get in your head after a couple of listens.

I was coming here to say exactly this! The chorus shares its first few notes with the chorus of CFTM but that's it. If no one told me about the sample I'd have never made the connection.

but then why make Tiktoks with Leann Rimes if this is barely similar
Ok so I’ve played this a few times today and it’s grown on me slightly. Still not great but not as bad as I thought it was.
With these reactions I was expecting MUCH worse! It's a cute bop, nothing groundbreaking but still enjoyed it on first listen.
My issue with the chorus is I do think the interpolation is immediate... and then it doesn't go where I expected it to, but it doesn't really go anywhere either. The melody is flat.

Wow it’s actually terrible.

I had to switch it off halfway through :/

Literally any of her other songs are better.
