!! at Wolf Alice being as high as #6 with a song that did not even chart. So close to being straight to the final aw. That's a decent inaugural top 5 though, especially the top 2.

Fab to see 'INDUSTRY BABY', 'ZITTI E BUONI' (can we remember to fix the typo in that song's title for the next round ), 'Easy On Me', 'SHUM' and 'How Not To Drown' (also a bit of a surprise) into the semis as well, and a few further nice surprise AQs for non charting songs from Mitski, Coldplay, Wolf Alice (again) and especially DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ who has really done quite shockingly well! Pretty close for Little Simz too.

Boo all of my nominations making no noise at all, I thought 'CORALINE' might at least have enough of a niche to also do ok (it did win a BJSC spinoff earlier this year after all and obviously the other 2 Måneskin songs here did really well) but I guess too many people must have still not heard it xx

What a fantastic top three, glad they're all heading straight through to the final! :cheer:

Amazed that Go_A have made it into the semis too but very happy with that, and same for Masked Wolf and Coldplay getting AQs (aw at Moth To A Flame falling just short though) although I'm also shocked that Coloratura did so much better than My Universe and Higher Power. A fairly unpredictable set of results but overall pretty good!

I'm honestly shocked with the top 5. I thought it would be an easy one for Adele, 2 Olivia songs, Elton, and LM! :o

Good to see DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ here representing the BJSC. Glad both "Coloratura" and "I Still Have Faith In You" are getting AQs as well. Yeay for "SHUM" surprisingly reaches the semi. I quite enjoy Billx's frenchcore remix of it.

Most songs I nominate don't even crack the top 100, so mind blown at Wolf Alice getting so close to the top 5! Definitely one of the best songs of the decade imo. Sad to see so many good songs drop out just short of the auto-qualifier spots (Fred Again, The Anxiety etc). But overall a really strong year.
Next Year's AQs... ^_^

LETS FUCKING GETTT ITTTTTTTTT

AMAZING JOB LADS :cheer: QUALITY MUSIC PREVAILS

finishing directly above two of the biggest hits of last year too :deadbanana:

Great results, and I'm glad that at least of my nominations has AQ'ed, even if it (Seventeen Going Under) was a given to do so - though I think it was less than guaranteed it would go straight to the final, so I'm delighted it has as well.

Oh wow so many pleasing results here  my top 3 were: 'ZITTI E BUONI', 'The Last Man On Earth' and 'Save Your Tears' and they've all smashed it in the top 10 *.* Wolf Alice coming close to the top 5 is particularly satisfying, because as aforementioned this stunning song unfortunately didn't touch the top 40. Although my biggest double take was DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ :o!!

A 10 minute song in the AQ zone? ('Coloratura') ~ love to see it :cheeseblock:

I wonder if there's ever been a non hit that's done as well as 6th in a ROTD round before? Maybe I'm forgetting something obvious but I feel like low top 20 is usually the glass ceiling for such songs just because not enough people know them for them to do any better and it's just down to how many people from their specific niche show up to vote.

(and this wasn't only not a top 40 hit, it wasn't even a top 100 hit! but yes, easily one of the best songs of the year)

For non top 40 the answer is pretty obvious, Run Away With Me won the entire ROTD once! I can’t think of any examples of non top 100 hits that have done better than 6th off the top of my head so I’m not sure if it’s been done before but I do remember one that came very close, Flesh Without Blood reached 7th in the year round at one point.

Oh yeah that was a rather glaring example I missed there oops xx

I did think one of the Grimes songs might have the previous record if it's not been done before as I remembered them doing surprisingly well.

Feels like a rare round that I'm happy with the results, though would've been amazing had Self Esteem, Little Simz and Wet Leg just managed to push into the AQ zone. Great to see DJ Sabrina in the AQs, but disappointed the BJSC crowd didn't vote for Puppy too - 99th!

After doing some further research, it turns out there has been a higher non top 100 hit! Losing You by Solange finished as high as 2nd in its year round (2012) in ROTD 2015 :magic:
