Biography

Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie’s bold, booming voice has resonated around the world, both as a consummate dance-music collaborator and a brassy pop powerhouse. Born Anne-Marie Nicholson in Essex in 1991, the singer/songwriter never thought she’d make it far beyond her small village, but she was already making waves in London as a child, performing in prestigious West End theatre productions and becoming a karate world champion. Such ambitions undoubtedly helped prepare her for major festival stages—which she’d soon dominate as a rising vocalist in the electronic music world. After being discovered by Elton John’s management company, Rocket Music, in 2013, Anne-Marie lent her skyscraping vocals to tracks by dubstep/DJ supergroup Magnetic Man, garage duo Gorgon City and drum ‘n’ bass hitmakers Rudimental, who invited her to guest on their 2015 album We the Generation and join their extensive world tour. Going forward, she’s been a go-to vocalist and songwriter, pairing up with artists like Snakehips, James Arthur, Nick Jonas, David Guetta and Lauv. But her biggest breakthrough came in 2016 with Clean Bandit, whose single “Rockabye” with dancehall superstar Sean Paul became a multi-platinum global smash, largely thanks to Anne-Marie’s honeyed croons and playful lyrics, which offer an empowering twist on single motherhood. Since releasing her 2018 debut album, Speak Your Mind, the singer has been building up an enviable catalogue of self-love odes (“Perfect to Me”), sassy club bangers (Marshmello collab “FRIENDS”), nostalgic pop love songs (“2002”, co-written with Ed Sheeran) and throbbing coming-of-age anthems (the Doja Cat-featuring “To Be Young”). Even as a solo star, she continues to have no qualms about sharing the spotlight. “I just think collaborations are beautiful,” she told Apple Music. “I don’t think collaborations will ever stop with me.” - Apple Music

Aitch

Navigating rap stardom is a tricky thing, but Aitch has it down pat. He’s chameleonic like the pop stars he collabs with, gritty like the grime artists that inspired him. Born Harrison Armstrong in Manchester in 1999, Aitch grew up removed from the London scene, where grime blossomed during his formative years, but soaked up the music from afar. Then, as a teenager, he started rapping, building a following online with his snaking flows and dizzying rhyme schemes. Things took off in 2018 when he dropped his menacing debut single “Straight Rhymez”, and Aitch has since risen to the pantheon of hip-hop. In tracks like the 2019 remix of Ed Sheeran’s “Take Me Back To London”, you’ll hear his transition away from grime to sticky pop-rap, but his dexterous raps remind that he hasn’t lost touch with his roots. - Apple Music

10 minutes left and 2 songs to play? whats he gonna do to fill the time lmao (unless theres an interview planned?)

You worked it out!

Lewis' song is fairly decent I suppose but David/Bebe are naturally the bigger hit here, it'll be interesting to see if they would've got the #1 had it not been for the physicals.
congrats lewis, its a bop!!! hopefully this time next week it'll be i'm good at #1 though!
Gemma, that's quite dramatic

I can't blame the label for taking advantage of the physicals - why wouldn't you secure the #1 if you could?

It's how he gets away with the whole charades of being this inappropriate funny character. Most male popstars get criticised for much much less. The bloke is unfunny and his music is middle of the road stuff that makes Gary Barlow look exciting....I just can't get my head around it.

Someone would be seen as a monster if they liked Chris Brown despite the fact they don't condone what he did.
The chart manipulator with the giant nappy gets the #1.

The accuracy. Just when we thought cheesy Ed was taking a break from scamming the charts

Lewis in a nappy claiming "sex sells lolz!!1"

#psychic7 does it again :cheer: I predicted the most obvious chart outcome of the year!

(that's the only reason I'm celebrating since the song is ass and we don't stan desperation tactics but y'know)

Settle down, he’s hilarious, he’s not like other pop actors all serious and mature on camera

He likes to make people laugh and is just an all round down to earth funny guy and I am glad he’s getting all the success he is :)

Just catching up as I’m on holiday, great result for Lewis (I know he only really got it by rush releasing physicals early but still). Probably my favourite song by him to date!

Also ew at big city life getting knocked out the top 10 by Chris brown and central cee

And yay for words, about time!!

Well done to Lewis! A decent enough sound, and hopefully we'll get a few different #1s over the next two weeks (and not break the record for least new #1s in a year!) Some good new entries as well - nice to see Alesso/Zara make it in, plus Rema continuing the Nigerian invasion of the charts. And delighted for Seafret, never thought I'd see them get a Top 40 hit!

Didn't listen to the full chart (only the first 45ish mins and the Top 5) but Jack seemed to do a pretty decent job!

Interesting that with the presenter change the door has now been opened for songs in the top 10 being skipped, not really sure how I feel about that!

Fair play to Lewis getting the #1 (especially as it turned out he would have got it even without the early physical release), but alas that is the end of our run of good #1s for me. The tune of the song is decent but I cannot abide the vocals at all, and I say that as someone who broadly enjoyed most of his previous hits despite vocal shortcomings on those as well, he's just... got even worse over time oops.

:'''') at us ending up stuck with both Central Cee and Chris Brown in the top 10. I guess the silver lining is 'Crazy What Love Can Do' finally being shunted out since the mids, as much as I'd have preferred Chris Brown to not get another top 10 to add to his tally, I do think 'Under The Influence' is a slightly better song than that. But talking about the absolute tiniest of improvements to an utterly rotten top 10. Here's hoping the next wave of top 10 entrants is a lot better... (cough cough 'Bad Habit' is still sitting right there).

I apparently listened to the non Selena version of 'Calm Down' months ago as it's in my Internet history but I can't say I remember much about it oops  will have to remind myself, nonetheless still here for the continuing Nigerian invasion with that entering and Burna Boy and Oxlade still on the rise. 'Words' is nothing too special but decent enough and can't begrudge it finally going top 40 after a long run bubbling under. And I haven't heard the Seafret song yet but I see that it popping in knocked out Jax since the midweeks which I'm not going to complain about, could do without 'Victoria's Secret' becoming a hit, not opposed to the message of the song obviously but it's presented in a very Gen Z cringe way oops ~

edit: 105,000th post as Jay alerted me to B-)

Another Love is one of my favourite songs of the whole 10s decade, an incredible track and although the reset feels random, I am not complaining at ALL about hearing it on the chart

Agreed already an all time classic!

Are we back to accusing people of being "chart manipulators" and "cheesey" when it's just that the poster doesn't like them?
