Hopefully Padam Padam will stay Top 10 this week, but I feel like Nathan Dawe will overtake by Friday, even if Kylie goes ahead of the third Taylor Swift track. So maybe #9 at best for Kylie this week.

 

Tbh I’d probably prefer Padam Padam being lower than #8 this week - because if it did end up at #8, my mind would go to “if Taylor’s album hadn’t come out this week then Kylie would be #7 instead” ( ) :kink:

 

 

Smiley Kylie I think you’re setting yourself up for disappointment to feel so confident that another CD single is coming. That would be highly unusual for anybody. I can’t think of another single that had a CD released and then had another version released many weeks later.

The only thing they could do with the CD is print more and get them signed. A few thousand and limit it to UK only but I would be shocked if they even decided to do that hun!

As per promo for Kylie she probably did more in UK than expected. Last min addition to Capital Summerball, went all around the radio stations with interviews Kiss, Capital, Hits Radio etc. She is obviously building up USA stuff and probably filming nore videos over there ready to come to UK for summer and so some surprise stuff......

I quite agree. She was all over the media for her US appearances the last few weeks and suddenly she's gone quiet which means something's brewing - new video, collabs, etc. I firmly believe UK promo will happen in Sept unless PP really takes off in the US and they repurpose the UK slots for more US promo slots.

I quite agree. Do BMG even realise that unlike 2001 or 1989, there's no guarantee that her 2nd single will be equally well received. They need to cash in wherever possible. Where are those cheap CD singles that many can buy in bulk and sell more? Unlike singles from Disco or Golden, they shouldn't be focusing on profit from PP. but more on exposure. Sell more, send it to top 5!

 

I do applaud them for handling it well up to this point because I honestly don't think anyone expected it to do so well

Calvin and Ellie's "Miracle" recently did this, so there is some hope Kylie could!

^ That was the same version of the Miracle CD though, but just another batch of them dispatched at a later date!

 

What I mean is... I can't think of any song that has previously been released on CD single, and then weeks later the label issues a new CD single with a different track list / artwork. Which is a scenario SmileyKylie thinks/hopes could happen. But I sincerely doubt it.

 

At best they could print more of the original CD... but I don't see that happening either, given that the official store removed it altogether... as opposed to keeping it up, with a notice of it being "out of stock - more on the way" or whatever.

 

It seems like it's a case of BMG thinking that the job is done on that front.

 

The CD single sales in the UK:

9th June chart: 2,598

16th June chart: 359

23rd June chart: 115

30th June chart: 32, at least (that's how many it had sold as of the Thursday 29th June midweek, but we didn't find out a CD total for the whole week)

^ CD unavailable after that, 0 copies sold.

 

So there wasn't much demand for it outside of the first week of availability, only a bit over 500 CD sales over the next 3 weeks.

A vinyl would make more sense now than another cd but it looks like a vinyl isn't happening unless they surprise us.

It's hard to know what more BMG want from padam padam, it's likely they think it's more than done it's job and they will leave it to just selling by itself from here on in.

Personally I'd like a final push of a vinyl and at least 1 more remix out at the same time and ideally that would happen next week.

Wonder how many CD and cassette were made total….think cassette mostly UK though plenty around the world seemed to have bagged a copy.

Agree that BMG will let it run its course now.

 

Of course we would all love a higher peak and a killer remix and a vinyl but from BMG’s point of view the single has been a smash, they’ve already said it’s far exceeded their expectations so for them, as it’s not challenging for a #1 it really makes no difference if it’s peaks at #8 or #7.

 

Yes they could get it higher with another physical push but a lot of effort for a potential new peak when it’s already done wonders for them.
