I got a signed CD single in the post yesterday!! I haven’t seen anybody else post about them. I guess I’m one of the 10 winners?! I assumed they sent them out months ago

Well done :yahoo:

There was also a post on SH about a signed copy arriving too.

Love that a 2024 Kylie release has achieved that - in the streaming era I never thought we’d see that in the UK or US.

It was definitely something I'll never forget/never quite believe was actually real!

A shame that a few thousand 7” sales may not be taken into consideration for Padam Padam’s running total :(

In a way it’s strange that the album chart is a total free-for-all when it comes to how many physical formats are allowed, yet the singles chart still restricts it to 3. It’s a bit archaic at this point surely.

Someone on Popjustice is convinced that if one of the 3 original physicals is deleted/not on sale, then a new 4th physical can take its place as one of the 3, but I’m not convinced that’s true? Or else wouldn’t lots of artists do that? Almost always they stick to three or less. Then again there’s 5 vinyl & a cassette for the new Beatles single.

So in the end it seems that The Beatles charted with just 3 physicals being eligible. The Music Week article specifically mentions sales of CD and 7” vinyl (their store had four 7” variants but it’s likely that only two will have contributed to sales figures). Additionally there was a cassette and 12” vinyl on sale which must be ineligible.

Based on the above, Padam Padam vinyl presumably won’t be considered as eligible for the charts and therefore won’t get a boost.

Whether it counts to overall sales is another unknown matter, because we don’t know whether those other Beatles formats are included in the total.

I guess the most we can hope for is an appearance on the physical charts, such an ancient OCC rule - I get why they capped it back in the day but now they should be encouraging physicals.

The interesting thing about this situation is if the label has to pick which 3 formats will count or if the OCC just takes the 3 highest when all released at once?

And this is one of the main reasons the UK charts have become a bit of a joke, I'm not sure which is more incredulous, the format rule or one Business (Label) or the other business (OCC) deciding which part of our money counts.

I'm not sure the Aussie charts has it right either, but everything counts here, it has major drawbacks, for instance 16 of the top 50 last week was that person who I can't stand but it is was it is.

Interesting side fact, if the same rules that OCC apply were applied to the Australian Charts this week The Beatles would of been Number 1, it landed at number 6. Makes you wonder how many Number 1's in the UK in recent years were really Number 1

Thanks you guys! I still can’t believe it, I’m always so unlucky with things like this!
