Incredible sales, I really thought Adele/ABBA last year would be the last time for a very long while an album even came close to 200k, save for another 'very long waited reunion' moment (e.g. Oasis).

Wow great album sales and ‘Anti-Hero’ should break 70k as well!

Really impressed Loyle Carner is at 3 behind the huge sellers, thought he would be 7-8 and he’s looking at getting 16-19k sales. I did think Simple Minds would be more than 8k sales though so I underplayed them in my head when predicting, for some reason I thought a legacy band like that might be 15-20k by weeks end!

What did Taylor Swifts last album of new material sell in its opening week?

Of course Midnight has 13 (standard) to 20 tracks (3 AM version) to stream while The Car only has 10 so up to 60% more streaming possible for Midnight (as only the 1st 16 count; though since 3 are not on the standard edition, there could be a sizeable drop between the 13th and 14th trrack - again assuming that the top 13 are all the standard edition tracks). This is of course not the whole story as the single chart clearly shows that the Midnight tracks are outstreaming The Car ones, but it is a factor in the disparity between the two.... It'll be interesting to see the real sales and how much of Midnight's is made up of multiple individual purchases. We know of the 4 to make a clock which some fans will 'have to get'....

Well, as of Monday, 120K of the sales were album sales so... she can do both :cheeseblock:

Yes I know she is selling both real and virtually but that still doesn't answer the question of how many of them are multiple individual purchases? Normally each version has a slightly different catalogue number (though not always), so you know that the OCC know. I wonder whether it'll be broken down by Alan Jones in his report....

Oh, I see what you mean. I'm not sure how that's significant necessarily? Most pure album sales artists receive are thanks to fans now, considering the dominance of streaming.

Taylor 60k ahead of AM, that's just mental! Shame about Sam being at 2, dreadful song but the kids love it...made for tiktok.
Where is Harry’s House on this weeks update?? Just want to know if he’s gonna drop out of the top 10 for the first time since it’s release x

^ Harry is #10

re. formats

Taylor

70,761 CDs

58,300 vinyl

1,620 cassettes

6,465 downloads

36,477 streaming

Arctic Monkeys

57,229 CDs

36,634 vinyl

9,700 cassette

2,384 downloads

7,280 streaming

So it's only cassettes (!) where AM are outdoing Taylor. Can't break down the formats any further than that based on the data I have but Alan Jones gets much more detailed information than I do, naturally.

Wow, both acts smashing the previous record for album vinyl sales in a week set by ABBA last year (29.9k)!

AM has also multi version and multi buyers you know

it's not just pop artist fans that buy multi versions, I'd say indie fans are even more prone to multibuying

judging by my bjork, phoebe bridgers etc fans
