So this is Anne-Marie's 8th Top 10 hit and they've all peaked at different positions, with just #5 & #8 missing. (Assuming this doesn't improve on #6)

Liking 'Celestial', does sound kinda Christian esque to me for some reason though in parts which is fine. Quite the charm.

 

Interesting observation. Several of Ed Sheeran songs do sound like Christian worship hymns- 'Supermarket Flowers' and 'Visiting Hours' most obvious examples.

Pop-rock band OneRepublic have been consistent hitmakers of the 21st century, without ever sticking to a formula. A lot of that pop intuition and innovation starts with frontman Ryan Tedder, who began playing coffeehouses in Colorado in the late ’90s with high school buddies including guitarist Zach Filkins. A brief encounter with Oliver Tree might lead you to wonder: Is this guy for real? The bowl cut, bell-bottoms, and pink-and-purple windbreaker all seem calculated to confuse. Yet the ample pleasures of his unusual brand of tongue-in-cheek pop are right there on the surface. Born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, California, in 1993, he got his start as Tree on Belgium’s Apollo Records—an early home to Aphex Twin—in 2013, pairing warbly sing-speaking with folktronica beats. Three years later, he reappeared as Oliver Tree, bringing emo energy to “When I’m Down,” a collaboration with pop-EDM producer Whethan, then returned in 2017 with “Welcome To LA,” which poked fun at the city’s superficial reputation. Robin Schulz

In a matter of two short years, producer/DJ Robin Schulz rose to prominence as one of the definitive artists of the post-EDM boom of the 2010s. Born in Osnabrück, Germany, in 1987, Schulz cut his teeth on the local DJ circuit as a teenager, quickly landing his own club night as a 20-year-old tastemaker. Inspired by his breakout success behind the decks, he soon pivoted to production, releasing a handful of buzzing originals and remixes. But once he dropped his 2014 internationally chart-topping remix of "Waves" by Dutch singer/rapper Mr. Probz, he became next in line to claim the DJ throne. Depends on if you're a fan of Wish You Well and All Day And Night really.

 

I like 'All Day And Night', not so much 'Wish You Well' but it is one of the better songs by its artists.

 

Thank God at Chris Brown being out of the top 10, ACR ASAP please. Although ew at 'PSYCHO' overtaking 'CUFF IT' to hang on for another week :/ I really question what people like about that song, it's approaching 'Dance Monkey' levels of awful for me lol (but thankfully nowhere near as big a hit as that was at least).

Grime attracts big personalities, but even by the genre’s imposing standards, Stormzy isn’t so much a rapper as a force of nature: a 6’5” lyrical whirlwind boasting a powerhouse voice and one of the most impressive ascents in pop music, stepping up to headline Glastonbury within five years of his debut EP. Listening to radio 1 in the van every day at work and hearing this 3 times a day it’s gotten old and I’m bored of it already. Don’t even think it was that good a song in the first place tbh

Ooh I didn't realise Stormzy was holding up this well, impressive to not drop considering the Taylor influx. Heard this on R1 the other day too and it sounded nice if not exactly reinventing the wheel as far as afrobeats stuff goes (I think I immediately like it more than 'Own It' at least though) - some belated appreciation for 'Mel Made Me Do It' though which is great, hope there will be more stuff like that to come on the album.
