Brummie reggae singer Pato Banton took his cover of The Equals' 1968 original to #1 for 4 weeks, 1 week more than said original. The song featured Ali & Robin Campbell of UB40 (so some extension into the 1994 survivor for that pair as well). Banton would have 4 further top 40 singles, also all collaborations. Round 5 will be ran across this weekend. Edited October 28, 20222 yr by Dobbo.
October 28, 20222 yr That awkward moment when the best song in this list for me is the one in the lead :') I guess I'm just partial to Bon Jovi ballads as I also love 'Bed of Roses' by them as well. Edited October 28, 20222 yr by Happy Robaween!
October 28, 20222 yr I also love ballads and rock ballads, so quite fond of Always Always is definitely better than Doop, Saturday Night and the insipid Wets cover at least Always is an original
October 29, 20222 yr I for one welcome our new Doop overlords. This is really not a great list oops, I'm voting for Let Loose due to not recognising it but then I don't really care much for half of the songs I do know. Doop is legit my 2nd favourite of these
October 30, 20222 yr I guess I'm in the minority, but I really like most of what's left, a lot in a guilty pleasure way, but still good. Going for Bon Jovi here x
October 31, 20222 yr Yeh Doop for me now too, surely has to go before Always! Pato song is a poor cover - it misses the tempo of the original in 1968 chorus for me which says alot as the original was from the 60s!
October 31, 20222 yr Bon Jovi off next :o As compensation, here's a video I posted that I recorded backstage (well, technically to the side of the stage) at Kings Park Bournemouth when Jon Bon Jovi did the Radio 1 roadshow. "it's not what you know it's who you know" and my workmates who co-ordinated with the BBC knew I'm a massive pop fan  :P aaC-Wi3vm9g I mean, Doop...!
October 31, 20222 yr Doop for me, it's ok but was never particularly fond of it for a 90s dance song! I'd rather listen to Always.

Unfortunately it looks like BJ are out now :( should have at least been top 5 from this bunch. Guess I'll be championing East 17 to win now I think already.
