November 20, 20222 yr I quite liked seeing Qatar be so bad. I was expecting them to be at least ok given the preparations and recent history of the team, but Ecuador looked relatively comfortable all the time at 2-0 up and they let it turn into a borefest of a second half.
November 20, 20222 yr Qatar didn't offer anything during that match and I can't see them even scoring in this World Cup, aside from all the off the pitch issues them being this bad is another reason why they shouldn't be hosting the tournament. They probably would have been nowhere near to qualifying for the World Cup if they had to go through the qualification process like all the other Asian teams. This is a big win for Ecuador though and it likely sets up a winner takes all scenario for their match against Senegal to see who will join Holland in the Round of 16.
November 20, 20222 yr I really did think Qatar would be at least competent given the amount of preparation they've put in. Nope. Only saw the first 30 minutes before sleeping but that was where all the action was and Ecuador was the only team doing anything that whole time.
November 21, 20222 yr The first half was fine, but the second one made me looking at my phone all the time.

November 21, 20222 yr Vincent Janssen! Now there's a throwback, let's hope he's more effective for his country than he ever was for Spurs.

November 21, 20222 yr Author 5 minutes until the break at Al-Thumama Stadium, with both defences still on top. Ecuador will be delighted with this so far..
November 21, 20222 yr Proper contest this one, unlike the first two matches. True, but the most boring so far! Hopefully some goals in the second half...
November 21, 20222 yr At last! 3 games all with a headed goal now. One moment of quality in an otherwise rancid match. Frantic last 5 mins from Senegal likely now.
November 21, 20222 yr Neither team looked very good today. I don’t think Senegal have found the right way to adapt to missing Mane yet.
November 21, 20222 yr I can see Qatar been the first country to go out of this competition and as hosts
November 21, 20222 yr Best part about this World Cup so far are all the ridiculous attendances Qatar are handing out.. handing out attendances above what the stadium holds   Jokers.
November 25, 20222 yr Author Qatar failed to have a shot on target in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Ecuador. The Maroons are winless in three previous home meetings with African opponents, losing twice to Algeria and drawing with Egypt. Felix Sanchez is the seventh Spaniard to coach a nation other than Spain at the World Cup. The only one to reach the knockout stage was Roberto Martinez with Belgium in 2018. Senegal's only clean sheet in nine World Cup matches came in their shock 1-0 win over defending champions France in 2002. It was also their first ever World Cup match. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63672200
