Wow what a breath-taking, phenomenal performance from the lads :cheer: All 5 goal scorers getting their first in World Cups! Couldn't ask for more (the less said about the predictably dodgy VAR officiating as per the better).

Bellingham ran the show (praying he ends up at Liverpool). I thought Saka caused them all sorts of problems with his direct running.

 

Good win, but probably demonstrated why I don't think we will win too. The best teams going can keep their concentration going for 90 minutes. Massively unlucky with that 2nd penalty goal. Can only assume refs have been briefed on shirt pulling rather than bear hugs..

Yeh Bellingham is unreal, Liverpool would need to be top 4 and hope FSG doesn’t mess up with the proposed sale.

 

Always worry about teams that do that well in the first game of a World Cup 🤔😜

this is very pleasant to watch, I had not kept up with how good the England team are these days (blame Euro 2020 always being on at night)

I didn't get to watch the match but this will not be a true test of how good England are, that would come in the knockout stage from the quarter final onwards. Still they couldn't have asked for much more from today.

I caught the bit from 15-30 mins in (mainly consisting of Iran's goalkeeper being treated - really hope he's ok), and also caught the last Iran goal. An unreal amount of added time in that game!

!! NICE ONE LADS, I've not see a scoreline like that in an England game in a long time, certainly setting things up very well in this less than competitive group, though I suppose not too surprising as Iran are the lowest ranked of the four (albeit narrowly) and the other two there will definitely be more of a sense of history and rivalry so who knows x

Great start, and especially pleasing to see both Saka and Rashford on the scoresheet after receiving unpleasant racist abuse from (so-called) England fans for missing penalties in the Euro 2020 final last year. Confidence very much needed at the early point, particularly after the patchy form leading up to Qatar.

 

I think Iran's second goal/penalty is now the latest in regular time that a goal has been scored at the World Cup and Klaassen's in the Netherlands game is now the second latest. Hurrah for VAR..
