Sam’s record label will push sales until the end regardless. They took into account that he doesn’t have streaming power from day -59 he said that himself. Thank goodness for the British public.

Not a convincing lead on either chart. Assuming yesterday's Spotify data is missing, Wham! had a 38k lead over Mariah there which at an ACR ratio of 200:1 (if Spotify premium which most streams will be) translates to 190 sales, enough to just about put them ahead.

I had a feeling Bobby Helms would overtake Ariana and Kelly - he could be coming for his first Top 10 hit, all of 65 years after his chart debut!

I believe a potential #1 could be RAYE this week - Xmas Songs don't have enough advantage from the weekend, even if I assume Sundays' streaming are mostly missing, especially Amazon's ones.
Yes it could be RAYE - she overturned a bigger deficit against Wham! last week, although the song was still blowing up then whereas now it's started to level off a bit.
SZA is still holding up pretty well on streaming, had she released physicals this week, I am pretty confident she would've been comfortably number 1 :( but to end the week in the top 2/3 provided she does on streaming and digital sales alone is pretty damn impressive considering Ctrl missed the top 40!
I assume Gaga's record Label asked for a reset for Bloody Mary since it's at #67 (#27 without Xmas songs)

I was never sure: does a song need a reset if it’s never charted before? I’m trying to compare with other songs such as ‘Beggin’’ by Måneskin which was I think over 3 years old when it charted.

I thought a song can only go onto ACR after 10 weeks in the chart.

Any song older than 3 years is on permanent ACR, unless the label requests a manual reset.

The annual Mariah fans talking shite season is well and truly under way!

That might be what happens in practice but I feel it goes against the chart rules:

“Accelerated Chart Ratio cannot be applied to any product with fewer than 9 weeks on chart (i.e. ACR can only be applied in its 10th week on the Top 100 chart, at the earliest).”

We talk about permanent ACR a lot - but I’ve never seen this reference by the Official Charts Company. Maybe they have explained it somewhere else.

Resets

i) Automatic Reset – a track within the Top 100 on ACR and which is within 3 years of release can automatically return to SCR if it’s streams total increases by 25 percentage points greater than the streaming market change week on week. For example, a track with a week on week variance of +14%, in a week where market variance is -11%, would be automatically reset.

ii) Manual Reset – In exceptional circumstances, where a track is being scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100 and subject to one week’s notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual reset shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval.

It also says that "New releases will have a streaming to sales ratio of 100:1", so it's not overtly stated but it is hinted at in the rules. It's definitely what happens in practice.

Thank you. So a case of an OCC rules grey area.

Mariah and Wham! in a close race for #1. Both songs are amazing and deserve the #1 spot.

Suspect Mariah will hold again this week.

I'm more worried that Stormzy is really closing in on RAYE as I'm worrying that she may not be so clearly ahead for #1 after christmas after all

Stormzy will plummet after Christmas mind as he’s being boosted by Amazon pushing their exclusive orchestral version of the song on their christmas playlist
Oh good, I have nothing particularly against Stormzy but I'd definitely rather see RAYE get a first #1
Mariah only 186 copies ahead of Wham! I hope they overtake her by Friday
