December 20, 20223 yr Our homegrown charity superhero. Sir Bob found rotting. yep exactly forget spiderman, superman, ironman etc - LADBABY is the only hero for us :cheeseblock:
December 20, 20223 yr A quick reminder of what we very nearly had as Xmas no.1 in either 2000/1: UkRf7gDVT54 One A-side of the quadruple A-side collaborations project between Billie Piper and The Spice Girls!!!
December 20, 20223 yr Well I guess it's spiting people because they think that those are being spiteful themselves... Not saying I agree, I certainly don't want him to be #1 either, however some people take it way too far with the abuse over the fact he profits from this too and then stan their favourite artists who come out at do Comic Relief or CIN when they have an album to promote their new album or TV show, but never at any other time, or release their own charity single which in turn boosts their album sales or personal profile. What about people who work for charities as their main job but get paid good wages from it as well (my husband for instance is a Macmillan advisor). Yes I find it tacky that he is clearly doing this out of self interest and as a chart fan I hate that he has beaten consecutive records held by The Beatles and Spice Girls both very clearly the biggest male and female groups in UK history and that being something really showed that, but some of the comments do take it a tad far on here. But, as I've said before, it's not to do with the fact he profits out of it (for me anyway). It's the guilt-tripping, telling viewers that homeless people will go hungry if they don't specifically buy the LadBaby song, releasing a version with young people who have special educational needs, it's full of emotional blackmail when the main aim actually seems to be a #1 single for LadBaby. Popstars don't go on Children In Need and ask the audience to buy their album to help a child in poverty...! That's where the difference lies for me. If LadBaby simply said he wanted the Christmas #1, and was going to donate the proceeds to charity, I'd be okay with it (beyond the fact the song's trash x) because at least he'd be being upfront! This is why I have no issue with Ed Sheeran blatantly caring about his chart positions, there's nothing wrong with it, but don't pretend you don't care and then emotionally blackmail people into buying your song to get yourself to #1. (oh and it's worth remembering many of the comments here are deliberately OTT, I wouldn't take those posts seriously as the members behind them almost definitely aren't, even if they agree with the general sentiment against LadBaby :kink: )
December 20, 20223 yr I had a dream last night that they were counting down the chart and they got to #13 and the presenter went "unlucky 5th time, poor ladbaby only made #13 this year" and then skipped the song. if only that happened irl Completely serious, I dreamt last night that a lad I used to work with came into my current work to buy something and it literally happened today. Why do I share this banal fact that is interesting to nobody but me... because sometimes dreams have a weird habit of playing out in some shape or form, i'm totally not hinting at anything here Conor lol

December 20, 20223 yr Tbf it's not like crap hasn't topped the Christmas chart before.. look at Mr Blobby etc but Ladbaby is just adding insult to injury taking his tally to 5 now lmao. I'd at least admire him if he attempted to change it from sausage rolls or something because they sure are mouldy by now  the topic message can only go so far imo. I disagree with the comment about popstars don't go on CIN to ask the audience to buy their album to help a child.. they do it with their "charity" single instead which helps them getting a higher position than they likely would have got and promotes their album that it accompanies and boosts their sales / chart stats (just like Ladbaby). Then there's Gary Barlow who did the videos with Pudsey Bear asking people on far less money than him to donate to the cause but then avoided paying proper tax... I bet there are lots of others doing the exact same thing. I do agree it's tacky but then think some of the comments about their other earnings etc and bashing them for that is a bit uncalled for really. I remember the first year thinking it was quite funny lol by Year 3 I despised it and now I just ignore the Xmas chart completely because of it (but had to read through 35 pages of comments haha so ignoring isn't going so well) Edited December 20, 20223 yr by spiceboy
December 20, 20223 yr i totally agree, all his songs deserve to flop Well, there's always next year! :teresa:
December 20, 20223 yr Tbf it's not like crap hasn't topped the Christmas chart before.. look at Mr Blobby etc but Ladbaby is just adding insult to injury taking his tally to 5 now lmao. As I said before when someone compared the two, Blobby never released four sequels. He apparently did release a single sequel but the public paid it milking the same novelty dues with a #36 flop.
December 20, 20223 yr Well, there's always next year! :teresa: hopefully (unlikely) the british public will see sense by then and tell him to f*** off, or maybe hell see sense and give up. both seem fairly unlikely but we can only hope
December 20, 20223 yr He will be back for sure next year. If he scrapes no.1 or flops, he will come back "stronger and going all out this year!", pribably recruiting desperate debby Ed Sheeran again, etc, but by that time he will flop even more
