But are album pre orders really much of a thing in the streaming era? Lewis’ fan base are far more streaming heavy.

They definitely are in the era of big album bundles, especially as Lewis’ audience certainly isn’t exclusively young. Out of his debut album’s opening 90k sales, almost 60k of them weren’t from streaming!

pre-orders are everything, Lewis is not an streaming artist, what matters is the multiformats and the bundles and how many preorders you can get
Did seem a bit weird the documentary so early , isn't ed realising his like a couple of days before his album

An early look. It’ll of course be an easy #1 for Metallica this week.

1. Metallica

2. Now 114

3. Eurovision 2023

4. Avelino

5. Now 14 re-release

6. Natalie Merchant

12. Jody Wisternoff/James Grant

13. Feist

16. The Worldbeat Project - EP

21. GoGo Penguin

Interested to see how Metallica performs sales-wise. Their last album opened with 57,769 in 2016 and the one before that was in 2008 with 75,164. I would assume a band like Metallica would retain a lot of their audience, especially with albums released so far apart, so 40k+ should be achievable.

It's not that hard to get to #1 on iTunes albums tbf :kink:

I'd be here for either them or Everything But The Girl to pull it off as neither have had a #1 before, guess we'll have a clearer picture tomorrow of how much of the alleged stock of Taylor and The 1975's RSD releases is actually getting sold and counted (both seemed weirdly low on the Monday update though I know that'll be partly because some of the stock only went on sale online on Monday).

iTunes Albums

22 NEW Harry Belafonte - Very Best of Harry Belafonte

24 NEW Harry Belafonte - Greatest Hits

195 NEW Harry Belafonte - The Best of Harry Belafonte

198 NEW Harry Belafonte - The Essential Harry Belafonte

Singer, actor and staunch civil rights activist Harry Belafonte has died aged 96, it's been announced. The beloved American star was the recipient of a Grammy, Emmy and Tony award, as well as the coveted Official Christmas Number 1 in his lifetime.

Belafonte died of heart failure at his New York home on Tuesday with his wife at his side, his spokesperson said.

In the UK, he is best remembered for his track Mary's Boy Child, which became the Official Christmas Number 1 of 1957. Spending a total of seven weeks at Number 1, Mary's Boy Child also holds the distinction of being one of the best-selling singles in Official Charts history.

Belafonte also achieved two further Top 10 hits on the Official Singles Chart; The Banana Boat Song (2) and Island In The Sun (3) both released in 1957 too. Just last year, Belafonte became the oldest living person ever inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

was wondering if the many big features will benefit the National album, I mean, Taylor, Sufjan, Phoebe

I haven't bothered with the last couple National album but pre-ordered this on day 1 just cos of the features

and even friends who buy 1 album a year did order it cos of the features too

on the other hand, purist fans of The National might pass cos of the features :D some are very anti-Taylor judging by social media comments
