Imagine a few years ago if someone told you that Kate Bush, Ashanti, Elton John and even OneRepublic would be high up the 2022 year-end charts.
All of the top 10 songs have UK artists for first time ever!

Oh yes, that's quite interesting! (Although ofc the lead artists of 'Preu' and 'Where Are You Now' aren't British - but notably zero North American artists in the top 10).

50% of the top 10 in the US end of year chart were by British artists as well!

Estimated sales added, rounded to the nearest 5,000 to emphasise that they're unofficial.

Great work! For the cumulative totals, all my figures are within 10k of yours except I feel Lewis Capaldi should be around 4,610,000 if he had sold 4,550,000 by 14/11/22 (OCC).

Oasis I have a different figure for but as mentioned in another thread, figures for this are debatable so I’ll check it again.

Interesting that tracks 3-6 are essentially stepping down by the averaging value of 5,000. Of course this means that the sales difference could be anything from approx. 2,500 to 7,500 for each...

Last year #20 "sold" 810k units, this year only 725k, so I guess it's safe to say that people are moving towards older music more (as the streaming overall isn't decreasing by any means).

Streaming "sales" are absurd. As if Running Up That Hill *sold* more in 7 months than it had in over 35 years.

The #100 this year sold more than last year’s I believe. So although the top of the market may be decreasing, the overall market is deffo going up

To be fair, during the vast majority of those 35 years it had no way to increase its sales. So it's really just that its streaming (+ small number of downloads) in 7 months outweighs its original physical sales + downloads and streams since they respectively started counting which is more like 15 and 8 years respectively if I'm remembering the dates correctly. I don't think that's unreasonable as it was doing crazy numbers on Spotify for quite a few weeks, whereas before that its weekly downloads & streams would have generally been at a pretty low level apart from a spike in 2012 with the Olympics. And it wasn't that big of a seller on its original physical release.

Appreciating the estimated combined tallies for the Top 100 Julian T in the apparent absence nowadays of these being made public via OCC as used to be the case.
I'm working on some more accurate ones for the end of the month.

Sounds good mate thank you.
