29 December marked 35 years since the release of 'I Should Be So Lucky', Kylie's debut international single. It was a multi-week #1 in both the UK and Australia, finishing in the Top 5 best sellers of the year in each country, and remains one of Kylie's biggest and best known hits.

Its still a great song, i much prefer some of the live versions of the song but enjoy the studio version aswell, i think for non Aussies we will always associate i should be so lucky as her debut as it was for us in our countries where aussies will always link that to the loco motion. Lucky is a well remembered track from the 80s for most people whether they love it or hate and it was such a great start to Kylies international music career.
Was in my second year at Secondary School….happy memories.
I was 10 when it was a hit, and I remember that time so well, back then of course getting a single for me was such a big thing, kylie was just so huge back then.
I was 15 when this came out. It was a great song at the time and still love it now.

I grew up with Light Years/Fever Kylie but 'I Should Be So Lucky' was one that was always on the music channels (I also remember having some sort of pop party compilation which had it on), so it gives me a lot of nostalgic value. Still a really infectiously joyous song and I love the video, typically 80s but the bubblebath image is pretty iconic and one that stuck in my mind.

Such fond memories of this era and I still remember it being all over the Saturday morning TV shows.

I never thought back then that my love of all things Kylie would still be going strong now, I remember when they released the Kylie annual and it had all the different covers and versions of ISBSL available worldwide - I think that sparked something in me as I wanted/needed them all (And it’s taken me years and years but I have everything including the Dutch CD single)

Iconic. Don’t care about all the other versions - piano or torch or acoustic balladry blah blah.

It’s the golden original. I remember being so excited that Charlene was releasing a song, I fondly Recall the “video” K had made for TOTP (her singing in an open roof car in Sydney), and then in 2005 when she did the original at showgirl tour….. seems as classic then as it was in 2005 as it is to this day.

I agree the original version is the only version i like and that original showgirl performance in 205 remains one of my fave live performances of it.
Classic Kylie, always loved this even when it was unfairly ridiculed for many years, but glad it got some love when she made her mammoth comeback in the 2000's.
Whether you like it or not everything we know and love about Kylie can be traced back to this track.
