February 2, 20233 yr That collaboration is tragic though, I cannot hear a hit in it even if tried. A fair chunk of their mutual discographies are tragic, it's not like that's stopped them before  But I suppose the fact it's not even made a tiny splash on album release says it all...
February 2, 20233 yr They just need to count streams properly For instance last week, Reytons were top 10 all week on Apple Album Streaming, which counts proper album streams excluding playlists and what do they get overall, 1000 sales from streams on the other hand, The Weeknd-the Highlights was not top 200 on Apple Album Streaming but he gets nearly 10,000 sales from streams cos people are streaming "This is The Weeknd" and other playlists but no one is streaming The Highlights and still The Highlights gets 10 times more streams and that happens every week, Sam is #1 on Apple Album Streams, The Highlights not charting guess who's gonna have more album streams come Friday?
February 2, 20233 yr If there's no way of separating playlist streams from actual album streams then the current system is reasonably decent in principle, but streams absolutely shouldn't count towards greatest hits albums. Each track's streams should count for one album only. Either that or give greatest hits albums their own chart since it's just not a level playing field any more. If you look at the current album chart with GH removed I'd say it's fairly representative of the current most popular albums.
February 2, 20233 yr Oh my what an FLOP!!! But wasn't there a YUGE HIT from that album with Kim Petras?? You woulda thought that sang woulda boosted sales a bit.
February 2, 20233 yr How is it outselling Diamonds & Dancefloors? Gays can only stream one album a week and prioritised Sam.
February 2, 20233 yr Gays can only stream one album a week and prioritised Sam. don't lump us all together hun i haven't streamed sam's album once this week ava has been my priority xoxo
February 2, 20233 yr Sam Smith outselling and out-streaming Ava Max is surely no surprise! The biggest hit from Diamonds & Diamonds reached #83, 9 months ago. Nothing else has troubled the Top 100. Gays can only stream one album a week and prioritised Sam. I think there's many of us here who would like to be excluded from this narrative

I'm all for GH albums being relegated to a different chart, that's a really good idea.
February 2, 20233 yr If you look at the current album chart with GH removed I'd say it's fairly representative of the current most popular albums. That way you can see the top 12! But seriously though, I would probably also lump the appearance of Teenage Dream and The Fame akin to Greatest Hits albums in that all their singles feature on playlists and I don't believe for a second they're currently in the most popular albums - but it is what it is.
February 2, 20233 yr I'm all for GH albums being relegated to a different chart, that's a really good idea. Been thinking for a while now that they can go in the compilations chart and keep the album chart for proper albums.
February 2, 20233 yr Gays can only stream one album a week and prioritised Sam. Oops I missed the memo. I'm back to streaming midnight's.
February 2, 20233 yr The biggest nonsense remains the fact that a stream of a song can contribute to "sales" for that song and for one or two albums.
February 2, 20233 yr Any update on SG Lewis, i think his new album isn't charting at all which is really sad. Its a solid project!!!

Not wrong  Yeah, there are some anomalies, but at the very least you can make the argument that those two albums are pretty well known by the general public. Whereas for example, Maroon 5's greatest hits currently has 278 weeks on chart, and I'd imagine the majority of people aren't even aware it exists... Would be interesting to know how low its actual sales are.
