January 30, 20233 yr Would be nice to see Freya with another hit. Not surprising at the Sam sales. I hope they at least last a few weeks in the top 100.... Reytons havent fallen as far as I thought they would!
January 30, 20233 yr Where is Rita in the albums?? 37 Lana Del Rey - Born to Die TALENT AND MASTERPIECE WIN!!! :cheeseblock: :cheeseblock:
January 30, 20233 yr Where is SG Lewis on the album chart?? There's no way he's selling less on his first week than Måneskin on their second? I felt there was more interest in this album than his debut and that went to #46, could this be a mistake. Confusion

January 31, 20233 yr Female soloists in their mid-20s and upwards just don't seem to garner any streaming support. Rita Ora, Ava Max, Freya Ridings, Zara Larsson just don't have any chance of making the Top 40 nowadays which is a disgrace. But don't worry we have a stagnant Top 5 AGAIN. Oh, and let's have Rema still at No.6 after 22 weeks on chart. Edited January 31, 20233 yr by Zesty22
January 31, 20233 yr Your argument is slightly undercut by the fact said stagnant top 5 contains 3 different female solo artists who are over 30... :kink: (and Rema's success is largely driven by a remix featuring a fourth 30+ year old female artist!)
January 31, 20233 yr really hope Pink manages this week, she's higher than ever on Spotify, so there's hope
January 31, 20233 yr I actually thought Ava would be an easy #2 with at least 10K Her debut did 8K and that was pre-multi variant days sure the debut album had the big single but had been released like 2 years before the album and all the singles close to the album release date flopped Mabel was in a similar situation to Ava now, album #2 was a long messy campaign with only flops, and she managed #2 with 10K thanks to the multi variants

I felt there was more interest in this album than his debut and that went to #46, could this be a mistake. Confusion You're not the only one who's shocked he's not even showing up in the midweek top 100! Hoping it's a mistake but it's unlikely.

Ava has had nothing really. And Ava's debut had "Kings & Queens" doing well in the lead up to the album as well. I don't think the situations are comparable really.
January 31, 20233 yr I would have expected Sam to be on over 15k to be honest I am quite surprised. I guess he will sell between 15k by the end of the week. Edited January 31, 20233 yr by spiceboy
January 31, 20233 yr You’ve had to be pretty specific there to find your discrimination in that scenario, clearly a thing though I'm not saying all women of a certain age can't be successful. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Adele clearly operate on another level and do have a huge fan base hence their ongoing success, and probably heavy label support. The likes of those I've mentioned plus Carly Rae Jepsen, Mabel, Nina Nesbitt, Maisie Peters as further examples are just never going to punch heavy which is a real shame as some of their music is really quite decent. January 31, 20233 yr Ouch Sam Smith sales. No wonder they released it in January with very low sales needed for top spot

Even off the back of being in the Strictly final, it barely even made an impact on iTunes.
January 31, 20233 yr The Q4 album sales aren't looking so bad now are they Sam Smith? :funky: I really thought they would have over 20000 already.
January 31, 20233 yr Fleur East released a single this week... but you'd never know. Even off the back of being in the Strictly final, it barely even made an impact on iTunes. I love Fleur but the new single is garbage and not commercial at all so it's not too surprising. I want uptempo bops from her, not supermarket soul.

You are right... it's not the kind of music I would like from Fleur either... I just expected it to do slightly better on iTunes (even though it doesn't count for much).
