Posted February 9, 20232 yr 09 February 2023 S Club 7’s Official Top 20 Best Selling Singles We look back at S Club's biggest hits - has your fave made the list? Having already conquered the world with the Spice Girls, 1998 saw music mogul Simon Fuller form a brand-new pop juggernaut. In April of that year, S Club 7 exploded onto the scene via CBBC telly show Miami 7. A number 1 debut single, Bring It All Back, followed; with the group going on to score three more chart-topping singles, a Number 1 album and two shiny BRIT Awards. Now, we can reveal Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara, Paul Cattermole and Tina Barrett’s Official Top 20 biggest songs in the UK ever. There ain’t no party like an S Club Party, after all. But before we get into the full list, let’s take a look at the group’s Top 5. 5. S Club Party Released: 1999 Official Chart peak: 2 UK chart units: 487,000 The group’s fifth biggest song is school disco staple S Club Party. The lead track from their one-off TV special Back to the ‘50s, S Club Party instructed the ‘ghetto boys’ to ‘make some noise’ and coined the phrase ‘hoochie mama, show your nana.’ True lyricism. With its iconic second verse introducing each member of the group (‘wanna see Bradley swing, wanna see Rachel do her thing?’), S Club Party has been steamed over 16 million times in the UK to date. 4. Never Had A Dream Come True Released: 2000 Official Chart peak: 1 UK chart units: 853,000 The Official single in support of BBC Children in Need 2000 gave the group their second Number 1 that same year. The track knocked Destiny’s Child’s Independent Women Pt I off the top spot, and has been streamed over 22.5 million times in the UK. Never Had A Dream Come True remains S Club 7’s only hit in the US, and boasts the longest UK chart run of any of their singles (25 weeks, fact fans). 3. Bring It All Back Released: 1999 Official Chart peak: 1 UK chart units: 1,036,000 The theme song of Miami 7, Bring It All Back saw S Club debut at Number 1 on June 13 1999. The song shifting a staggering 190,000 copies in its opening week, the highest of any of the group’s singles, and even denied Madonna of a chart-topper. Yep, Bring It All Back beat her single Beautiful Stranger to Number 1 by 55,000 copies 2. Reach Released: 2000 Official Chart peak: 2 UK chart units: 1,103,000 It might’ve been held off Number 1 by Sonique’s It Feels So Good back in ’99, but Reach remains an S Club classic. The soundtrack to the band’s second telly series LA 7, this track peaked at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart and has shifted over 1.1 million UK chart units since. It’s also racked up in excess of 53 million UK streams; making it their most-streamed song of all time. 1. Don’t Stop Movin’ Released: 2001 Official Chart peak: 1 UK chart units: 1,137,000 The band’s biggest seller is the mighty Don’t Stop Movin’ – a song so amazing it was Number 1 twice. Shifting 178,000 copies in its opening week, Don’t Stop Movin’ ended Destiny’s Child’s reign at the top with Survivor. The following week, Geri Halliwell reached the summit with It’s Raining Men, only for S Club to return to Number 1 two weeks later. Don’t Stop Movin’ won the group a BRIT Award for Best British Single in 2002, and boasts over 35 million UK streams to date. S Club 7’s Official Top 20 biggest songs in the UK revealed: POS TITLE ARTIST YEAR PEAK 1 DON'T STOP MOVIN' S CLUB 7 2001 1 2 REACH S CLUB 7 2000 2 3 BRING IT ALL BACK S CLUB 7 1999 1 4 NEVER HAD A DREAM COME TRUE S CLUB 7 2000 1 5 S CLUB PARTY S CLUB 7 1999 2 6 HAVE YOU EVER S CLUB 7 2001 1 7 TWO IN A MILLION S CLUB 7 1999 2 8 YOU S CLUB 7 2002 2 9 NATURAL S CLUB 7 2000 3 10 YOU'RE MY NUMBER ONE S CLUB 7 1999 11 BRING THE HOUSE DOWN S CLUB 7 2000 12 I REALLY MISS YOU S CLUB 7 1999 13 SHOW ME YOUR COLOURS S CLUB 7 2001 14 FRIDAY NIGHT S CLUB 7 1999 15 VIVA LA FIESTA S CLUB 7 1999 16 EVERYBODY WANTS YOU S CLUB 7 1999 17 SUNSHINE S CLUB 7 2001 18 GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD S CLUB 7 1999 19 IT'S A FEEL GOOD THING S CLUB 7 1999 20 RAIN S CLUB 7 2015 https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/s...-singles__9147/ Very pleasantly surprised they have 3 million sellers :o Don't Stop Movin' & Reach should hit 2x Platinum later this year.
February 9, 20232 yr I suspected 'Don't Stop Movin'' had passed 1m given it was on 800k+ pure sales back in 2014 and thought 'Reach' would get there too, but I didn't anticipate 'Bring It All Back' passing 1m too! :o 'Don't Stop Movin'' is one of my all-time favourites, it was a school disco classic and I regularly hear it out in clubs and bars today. A timeless classic!
February 9, 20232 yr Some pretty stonking pop there you have to say. Most of the Top 10 is really good - conversely I don’t think I know any of 11-20 oops. Interesting that their last 2 hits aren’t there at all despite peaking at #2 and #5. Sounds like Reach will eventually overtake DSM with its stronger streaming then. Edit: wrote “stonking pop” and it autocorrected to “stinking” :kink: Edited February 9, 20232 yr by JulianT
February 9, 20232 yr Sounds like they didn’t count the hits by ‘S Club’ after Paul’s departure, as Say Goodbye at least would be in there. Some very good album track picks here though, Bring The House Down was definitely their hit that never was.
February 9, 20232 yr Author Some pretty stonking pop there you have to say. Most of the Top 10 is really good - conversely I don’t think I know any of 11-20 oops. Interesting that their last 2 hits aren’t there at all despite peaking at #2 and #5. I wonder if it's because they're under the "S Club" moniker instead of "S Club 7". I would think Alive & Say Goodbye would be top 20 otherwise? Edited February 9, 20232 yr by Ne Plus Ultra
February 9, 20232 yr 'Say Goodbye' and 'Alive' would most likely be #10 and #11 on the list. 'Have You Ever' is over 400k, 'Two in a Million' is over 300k and 'You', 'Natural' and 'Say Goodbye' all over 100k.
February 9, 20232 yr Shocking that they overlooked the last two hits being under a different name, I can't believe they would have done that on purpose!
February 9, 20232 yr If they can omit Dandelions and Middle Of The Night from the biggest non Top 40 hits list of 2022 they can omit anything! :D
February 9, 20232 yr I assume the omission of Alive, Say Goodbye and Love Ain't Gonna Wait for You is an oversight and nothing more, but a shame they're not included regardless. Assuming the streams of Say Goodbye count to the double A-side (and good to have confirmation that Two in a Million's streams go to its double A-side while You're My Number One counts separately). I'd hope Love Ain't Gonna Wait for You would be top 20 on its own too but hard to say, it's not one of their best remembered songs. Nice to see they have three million sellers confirmed! S Club Party really deserves platinum but it seems to be slow progress. Love the insight into which of their album tracks are most popular in the digital era, Show Me Your Colours being that high feels justified! Gonna Change the World feels like a random one, but their debut album has the highest streaming counts on Spotify which I hadn't realised before so I guess it figures. Rain sneaking in is nice to see too, justice after taking so long to come out (it was an unreleased song that featured in their final TV series, released on the greatest hits re-issue in 2015!)
February 9, 20232 yr The list's been updated! 1 DON'T STOP MOVIN' S CLUB 7 2001 1 2 REACH S CLUB 7 2000 2 3 BRING IT ALL BACK S CLUB 7 1999 1 4 NEVER HAD A DREAM COME TRUE S CLUB 7 2000 1 5 S CLUB PARTY S CLUB 7 1999 2 6 HAVE YOU EVER S CLUB 7 2001 1 7 TWO IN A MILLION S CLUB 7 1999 2 8 YOU S CLUB 7 2002 2 9 NATURAL S CLUB 7 2000 3 10 SAY GOODBYE S CLUB 2003 2 11 ALIVE S CLUB 2002 5 12 YOU'RE MY NUMBER ONE S CLUB 7 1999 2 13 BRING THE HOUSE DOWN S CLUB 7 2000 14 LOVE AIN'T GONNA WAIT FOR YOU S CLUB 2002 2 15 PERFECT CHRISTMAS S CLUB 7 2000 16 I REALLY MISS YOU S CLUB 7 1999 17 SHOW ME YOUR COLOURS S CLUB 7 2001 18 FRIDAY NIGHT S CLUB 7 1999 19 VIVA LA FIESTA S CLUB 7 1999 20 EVERYBODY WANTS YOU S CLUB 7 1999 Perfect Christmas obviously benefiting from Christmas playlists but a very strong showing for the only b-side of theirs that's actually available digitally...!
February 9, 20232 yr Surprised to see I Really Miss You and Show Me Your Colours, I don't think those were ever singles or had much exposure, correct ?
February 9, 20232 yr Surprised to see I Really Miss You and Show Me Your Colours, I don't think those were ever singles or had much exposure, correct ? Correct, though they only released 11 singles (two of which were double A-sides so 13 songs in the top 20 were singles) so the rest are album tracks.
February 9, 20232 yr Great to see the list updated. Happy to see Perfect Christmas in there too. Always liked that song. Edited February 9, 20232 yr by One_For_Sorrow
February 10, 20232 yr Correct, though they only released 11 singles (two of which were double A-sides so 13 songs in the top 20 were singles) so the rest are album tracks. I'd also say 'Show Me Your Colours' is probably one of their most known/regarded album tracks?
February 10, 20232 yr I'm not really convinced there was a need for this to be more than a top 10 :kink: but cool that there's some insight into the most popular S Club 7 album tracks for the kind of people who care about that kind of thing (not me). x The top 2 are both great songs though and definitely the correct choices, and I do also quite like 'S Club Party' and 'Bring It All Back'. I actually heard 'Don't Stop Movin'' on the radio just the other day and I still bop to it.
February 10, 20232 yr It's really annoying 'Stand By You' isn't on streaming! That deserves to be amongst their top 9 album tracks/b-sides! Also, I think 'Best Friend' is a bop and 'I'll Keep Waiting' was a biiiig fave for me growing up too! '7' is under "compilations" on Apple Music for some reason? (Listed next to their 2015 Greatest Hits) How odd! Why is that album so hard to get right on streaming?
