Ah, was right that Judith Durham was my best chance of being a sole voter *.* she had one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, as the lead singer of The Seekers but I also love that solo hit 'The Olive Tree', so thought I'd include her. Stevie Nicks feels low :o

Carly Simon has some great songs

Ooooo I love Stevie Nicks 'Rooms on Fire' - such a mysterious (yet catchy) track.

Nerina Pallot - I think 'Patience' is my favourite of hers but did like 'Everyone's Gone to War' but nothing blew me away to get an album of hers although I normally like that genre.

I guess Stevie Nicks also suffers from being better known/regarded as a group member than a solo artist. Shoutout to her recent feature on Gorillaz' new album though <3

Not surprised Jade was the only voter for Judith Durham but a nice pick there, ofc heard 'The Olive Tree' from it being sent to a Pop Forum Song Contest and it sounded lovely there. At least she's ahead of Leah Kate :teresa:

Carly Simon… singer of my favourite Bond theme

You’re so Vain is a wonderful track too for her two main classics, however she’s got quite a lot of decent songs to her name

It's a shame Rebecca Ferguson didn't have a bit more success, she had one of the best voices of anyone to come out of a talent show.

Carly Simon and Stevie Nicks deserved better tbh.

I don't think I've lost any of mine yet.

I watched one of the recent Father Brown episodes and it had Elaine Paige in it, didn’t realise it until the credits at the end. In my defence I haven’t seen her in anything in ages.

I'm away for the weekend so the thread will next be updated on Sunday evening!

'Save The Best For Last', what a song that is  Vanessa Williams had a couple of others that I liked too, 'Just For Tonight' is quite nice, though I'm not sure it was a hit. It was surreal to see her turn up in Ugly Betty years later (and in an episode of Modern Family more recently!)

I don't think I know any Roberta Flack songs other than the two most obvious ones but what timeless classics they are!

Thanks for your hard work on this so far Gezza and have a good weekend, wherever you're going!

Enjoy your weekend away! Thanks for your hard work with this. :)

Agreed that Roberta's two most well known songs are classics, they're much covered!

Hope you enjoy your time away, Gezza ^_^

oh love Nerina Pallot, too bad I forgot to vote for her

her album Fires is absolutely fantastic, one of the best albums of the 00s, the singles were great but the album included amazing songs like Idaho, one of my fav songs ever <3

That's one of my favourites too and I agree that Fires is one of the best albums of the 00s. Everybody's Gone To War, Sophia, Idaho, Geek Love are all 10/10 songs for me.

She's had lots of other great songs since, and her album released last year was her best in a long time.

It's crazy to me that she never cracked the albums chart top 20 but at least she managed a couple of top 40 singles.

So it's official then, Emmerdale's Malandra Burrows is a greater female artist in the history of music than either Stevie Nicks or Carly Simon. Someone better go tell her the good news! :D

Really enjoying this thread too - thanks Gezza! 😊

Happy my votes for Carole King and Patsy Cline made them chart for the first time. I love Carole's album Tapestry - an absolute classic and one of the rare albums I can play from start to finish and don't skip any tracks.

My nan loved country music and would play quite a lot of country radio where a number of Patsy songs would regularly be played particularly "Crazy". I love her voice and she died way too soon. :(
