June 21, 20232 yr Thank you so much for this Gezza! Another really interesting and fun countdown second time around. A perfect top 2 for me. The two most talented across all avenues being the top 2 felt so right and Madonna being the winner is undeniable as she is the queen of pop with an undisputed and extremely versatile and innovative discography so if my personal fave Gaga was to just miss out to anyone I’m glad it was Madonna. Very close top 2 though. So Madonna had more thirty pointers but did Gaga appear on more lists? Edited June 21, 20232 yr by JLJ
June 21, 20232 yr What an amazing thread! Thread of the year, thank you Gezza! I didnt expect Madonna to win this time but she so deserves it! I am hoping her tour that is due to start very soon is an amazing success!!
June 21, 20232 yr Although not my preferred choice, it's obviously easy to see why Madonna wins. An icon. Literally changed the game. She got bumped up slightly in my ratings I think due to me doing a back catalogue session during covid! I've found myself wavering thin on Gaga over the years, but I still appreciate and like her music a LOT (she got 20 points from me afterall!!). I just don't go back to her as much as I probably should. 'Paparazzi' remains my favourite song by her  Thanks Gezza. It's been fun.
June 21, 20232 yr YAAAAAS MADONNA is the winner, a huge achievement 41 years into her career; and without a top 10 single in the UK for 14 years. Ps imo Gaga doesn’t deserve to even be Top 20. Happy Rihanna came 3rd; she’s a sales powerhouse.
June 21, 20232 yr Wow how close was that?! :o I've been a Gaga fan since 'Poker Face' but didn't get the chance to see her live until last year. It really reminded me why I fell in love with her music and talents in the first place! Born This Way is still hands down my favourite album by her, it was very important for me when it came out and still stands up very well over a decade on. Her debut does feel dated now but The Fame Monster remains an excellent extension, with 'Bad Romance' being my overall favourite Gaga single. I'll never forget how exciting it was to follow those first few years of her career! The ARTPOP to Joanne years were pretty patchy for me but I definitely warmed to her music more again with A Star Is Born and Chromatica. Madonna is of course a worthy winner again, Ray of Light is one of my favourite albums of all-time with Confessions on a Dancefloor a strong second. Thanks for running this Gezza, superb work  My votes in full for list fans: +30 Lana Del Rey +29 Kate Bush +28 Lady Gaga +27 Fiona Apple +26 Amy Winehouse +25 Ariana Grande +24 ROSALÍA +23 Donna Summer +22 Janet Jackson +21 Aaliyah +20 Lorde +19 Madonna +18 Avril Lavigne +17 Taylor Swift +16 Mariah Carey +15 Nina Simone +14 Dua Lipa +13 Britney Spears +12 Judith Durham +11 Björk +10 Hayley Williams +09 Beyoncé +08 Miley Cyrus +07 Kylie Minogue +06 Aretha Franklin +05 Adele +04 Billie Eilish +03 Kelly Clarkson +02 Dolly Parton +01 Shakira
June 21, 20232 yr Oh my 2 votes difference!!! but we got the correct winner... not sure if I'd give Madonna 27 votes now after Vulgar though ;D
June 21, 20232 yr Well after yesterday, nothing would surprise me anymore. Michelle McManus is coming for that #1, isn't she?
June 21, 20232 yr Oh wow, 2 points! I would've definitely put Madonna higher though, her recent material leaves a lot to be desired but she is the worthy winner just for how groundbreaking and diverse a star she was, Lady Gaga's certainly got a generally good discography built up, but it's not quite at the same level. It could well have changed on a different day, but I think these would've been my votes: 01; Taylor Swift 02; Kate Bush 03; Kylie Minogue 04; Beyonce 05; Jessie Ware 06; Madonna 07; Ellie Goulding 08; Lana Del Rey 09; Billie Eilish 10; Gwen Stefani 11; Nelly Furtado 12; Avril Lavigne 13; Amy Winehouse 14; PJ Harvey 15; Sinead O'Connor 16; Lady Gaga 17; Ariana Grande 18; Dolly Parton 19; Dua Lipa 20; Lorde 21; Eva Cassidy 22; Robyn 23; Paloma Faith 24; Adele 25; Charli XCX 26; Bjork 27; Lykke Li 28; Miley Cyrus 29; Shakira 30; Whitney Houston So I guess I could've moved a few things around, but probably not change the really big players. I will confess to top 40 female artists not making up a huge amount of my iTunes, I guess growing up, I was more drawn to indie rock and electro sounds which given I only heard music from the charts and on the radio, tended to come more from groups or male artists. I'm a bit more diverse now thankfully x Thanks for running this and for the impeccable presentation, Gezza! Must remember to vote in the next one of these x

June 21, 20232 yr OMG how did I miss this rate? :drama: . Great to see Rihanna rightly finishing in the top 3!!!
June 21, 20232 yr Well my idiocy earlier on in the vote has definitely given Madonna the victory, as I would have certainly put Gaga more than 2 points ahead of her haha.
June 21, 20232 yr Well done Madonna, despite some questionable releases over the last decade no other female pop star can truly touch her 25 year 1984-2009 success. While I love Gaga she has a long way to go to match that for me (simply because she hasn’t been in the game as long) so Madonna rightfully deserves that top spot. Edited June 21, 20232 yr by spiceboy

June 21, 20232 yr Wow, we love a close finish, but 2 points!! As with the last BJSC, PFSC and Club Bizarre, my vote made a difference to the winner! Lady Gaga faves: Just Dance, Shallow and Bad Romance, with an honourable mention to Stupid Love from this decade and, like Rihanna, she has a fantastic vocal range. Both she and Madonna have done plenty I don't care for, although if I'd averaged the good stuff out over the course of their careers, I'd have put Gaga ahead. However it's another well deserved victory for Madonna. My top faves from her are from the 80s: Borderline, Into The Groove, Like A Prayer, but in terms of versatility and bravery, she's continued to prove herself over the later decades, with the Music album my favourite of those eras. Thank you so much Gezza for running this! I look forward to the male artist rate, especially as I didn't take part in that one first time around either! My full vote: +30 Lana Del Rey +29 Kate Bush +28 Diana Ross +27 Madonna +26 Amy Winehouse +25 PJ Harvey +24 Lady Gaga +23 Adele +22 Dua Lipa +21 Aretha Franklin +20 Beyoncé +19 Rihanna +18 Lauryn Hill +17 Kirsty MacColl +16 SZA +15 Sia +14 Alicia Keys +13 Taylor Swift +12 Ariana Grande +11 Billie Eilish +10 Robyn +9 Tove Lo +8 Shania Twain +7 Alanis Morissette +6 Joni Mitchell +5 Tracy Chapman +4 Gloria Estefan +3 Ladyhawke +2 ROSALíA +1 PinkPantheress
June 21, 20232 yr She posed for the Sistine Madonna painting in 1513 so she was having success long before 1884 too
