Today marks 15 years since 'Wow' was first released as a single. It was the second release from 'X' in Australia and the UK and the third release for Europe. 'Wow' achieved Top 40 peaks in most of its charting countries, but experienced most success in the UK where it peaked at #5 and was certified Silver, its chart performance spurred by strong airplay and performances on The X Factor and the BRIT Awards.

I loved this at the time, but I find it almost impossible to get any enjoyment out of it these days.

I don't know if that's because I've overplayed it, outgrown it or both. There was also this really annoying TV advert which used it incessantly, that probably didn't help.

All in all, this has aged like milk.

Boots advert, wasn't it? I can remember there being a tag line on the lines of "making you feel..." (Kylie sings:) "wow".

I was a fan of this back then and I still am today. It's high energy, fun pop - to quote the song, it's "such a rush, the rush is never ending". I imagine it was considered a welcomed return to form for those who were underwhelmed by '2 Hearts'. I've never been able to pick up on the 'Love at First Sight' similarities, but I can now sort of see it in the way the music fades in and out throughout the song. That's about it though.

Slightly surprised 'Wow' hasn't been performed outside of a tour since its release. I feel like it would slot in well on a medley of her songs and I imagine the public would instantly remember it.

Wow is a bop….love the production. It definitely should have been the X lead single…2 Hearts always lacked a middle 8 and a better bridge…though she did perform it live with gusto.

The Wow video and Brits performance were lacking however…The Kylie Show Wow performance brought it to life much more.

It was a proper hit too….climbed the charts bit by bit as the airplay built over many weeks prior to the CD release.

Ooh no I dislike the performance on The Kylie Show. The styling is horrendous (could say the same about all the performances on there!). I see what you mean about the BRITs performance, especially when you compare it to 'Can't Get Blue Monday Out of My Head' six years before! I do enjoy the performance on The X Factor though - even though it's pretty much the same choreography, I think it just works better on The X Factor stage and I find the styling better and Kylie just seems to be really enjoying herself.

She did wow at her Christmas Show at Royal Variety which i thought was a really good live version. Wow is the standout single from X for me, and i was impressed at the time with its very decent chart run and was happy to see it well outsell 2 hearts. Wow is in my fave parts of X but i would easily regards The One and Like a Drug far ahead of it. Overall its a song i still really like but i havnt listened to it as much lately as i used to.
It’s a bit cheesy and not as credible sounding as her other hits like in your eyes, all the lovers or on a night like this.
Liked ‘Wow’ at the time - it restored some faith I think after I hated ‘2 Hearts’

I see why Kylie didn't go with this first, it's a great pop song, and my favourite on the album, but very dance-pop Kylie by numbers, so wouldn't have made for the most engaging lead single. Was pleasantly surprised it made the top five as a second single though.

It was good to go with something a little riskier first, but The One or In My Arms would have been a clear evolution in sound while also being stronger than 2 Hearts.

Love this track and it did save the 'X' campaign after the awful lead single '2 Hearts' came and became quickly forgotten about. Never understood why 'The One' was never chosen as the lead single, it could have easily given the album a much better starting point.

It had a chaotic start to its chart life especially for back then - 32-28-43-29-27-26-22-20-18-5-5….

It was awarded a higher peak thanks to XF, physicals and remixes

Did Wow have a single mix for it? Just seen on the EP it says Wow (Edit) but in what way is it different to the album version, which is the same length?

It had a few extra little flourishes in the production, it’s quite subtle but I actually prefer it to the album version.

Loved it then, still love it now. One of her best singles for me!
I do remember slightly worrying at the time it would have a low peak due to its slow start.

I kind of knew it would be fine, at that time she could propel anything into the top 10 with physicals being available and her ardent collectors buying it en masse.

Another good album! I loved all theee singles from it. Get Outta Ma Way was probably my favourite. The wholw album is just authentic Kylie.
