That Lucie song is a dirge too though... Embers was terrible.

and Bonnie's bland effort too. Legend but bless her that wasn't it for this.

I didn't mind Lucie's but 'Embers' wasn't anything special.

It might have sounded good to Pete Waterman on his cruise ship in 1987 but not in 2010! Can't exactly say the nil pointers were underserved really.

Josh Dubovie, Andy Abraham and Michael Rice were my least favourites, all woeful in different ways. Josh seemed like a nice guy but the last 10 seconds were way off, and the song sounded like a Pontins recruitment advert from the 80s. Bigger Than Us was just incredibly cliched and bland, and Even If didn't go anywhere at all.

Engelbert actually had a nice, classic ballad but his voice wasn't great on the night, Bonnie's song was nice but dull, Lucie was amazing but selling a pretty average song. Likewise Surie really, she gave it her all, was a great representative (especially with the recovery after the stage invader) and can sing, but Storm was a dud.

I can't pretend to hate Jemini, Daz and Scooch, despite what no hopers they were - I always have a place for super cheesy, catchy pop in my heart. Jemini were obviously out of key but the song is a weird one musically, if I try to sing it in key over the studio backing track I struggle too, something about it is just a bit off. Daz's studio version was great and very nostalgic sounding but the performance admittedly was a choice. Scooch was ridiculous Carry On style innuendo and dated but I loved it and loved them (I voted for both Scooch and Daz in their national finals oops).

Surely this has got to be a contender for worst entry - the staging, outfit choice, dad dancing and the fact he was out of breath for most of it :drama:

Although I guess we need to thank him - the BBC must’ve realized they couldn’t go any lower so put some effort in the following year

Yeah there's nothing worse than the tired ballad cliches of 'Bigger Than Us'. Deservedly killed our chances of being trusted with a national final.

Though I can count on one hand the amount of UK entries from 2003-2021 that I'd say I actually like, and it does seem like it's turning a corner in that regard, it's not exactly my thing but Mae's song is sticking with me quite well and she seems like a lovely entrant, I'd rank it above nearly all of that era.

Lucie killed it, she just needed a better song. Her staging was fabulous and she had no backing track or vocals; so carried her own!

BONNIE TYLER SAID ON THE RADIO SHE ONLY DID EUROVISION BECAUSE SHE WAS WORRIED THE RADIO WOULDN'T PLAY HER NEW ALBUM??? :arrr:

All the UK entries have been terrible from 2012 - 2021 for various (multiple) reasons. The best one I would say is You're Not Alone by Joe + Jake because the instrumental had more life which the other UK entries have lacked. It was co-written by a guy from The Wanted?

Tattoo will steal the title for the highest UK chart entry this year.

Space Man is superior and I won't accept any slander plus KING Sam has more stage presence in his big toe than all the artists from 2012 - 2021 put together.

You’re Not Alone had potentially to be an early 1D banger but just lacked it somewhere. Better than most of our entries though and I liked them two aswell.

I actually don't mind the studio version (albeit never would have picked it for Eurovision) but it really fell apart live.

I do think My Last Breath could have been midtable to low top 20 for him though, I suspect he would have performed a song like that better than a 'banger', the staging concept had sounded interesting, and where countries carried out their own votes in the absence of a contest, it featured in a couple of them. I think juries would have liked it more too.

Sam is absolutely the best from that period but I still think Molly deserves some credit. Unlike the others her song was a (small) hit, spending a couple of weeks in the top 40 - it was relatively well produced, apart from the chorus and felt like a substantially bigger effort from the UK than all of those other entries, it's just a shame that it fell a little flat live, but not enough that it deserved its low 17th place finish.

I liked this one too, it did reasonably well with the juries, and was pretty well produced. Not an amazing track but not an embarrassment like many of the others.

I prefer Molly's song to Lucie's even though she got a lower result but I wouldn't have guessed she was predicted to score well in the first place.

SAM IS KING HE HAD THE AUDIENCE SINGING ALONG :funky:

Electro Velvet need more respect put on their name here tbh

(That is the only one of those 2012-21 entries I like much. Lucie and Joe & Jake were ok, the rest were mid at best (was never big on Molly))

The live version tanked and he was like a used car salesman

They shoulda chosen Ellie and Calvin! Imagine Miracles as the closing number, a trance bop, strobe lights going off! WOW WHAT A MOMENT!!

Yup. Sam could easily have won the televote, but he was RIGHT BEFORE the Polish rip off of his song, with the singer PURPOSEFULLY stealing Sam's singing style and tryna hit the same high notes, randomly!!!, in order to compete with him. If this beige bop has OTHER beige bops ahead of it, see Poland's, then it really will be a nil pointer.

You keep saying that Calvin and Ellie weren’t chosen like they were standing in front of the BBC with Mae Muller and they chose her over them. That just didn’t happen.

Freaks by Jordan Clarke should have definitely been chosen ahead of Bigger Than Us!

This is probably my ranking of the last ten UK entries - not ranking Mae until she’s performed haha

1 Space Man (2022)

2 Never Give Up On You (2017)

3 You’re Not Alone (2016)

4 Children of the Universe (2014)

5 Storm (2018)

6 Still in Love with You (2015)

7 Believe in Me (2013)

8 Love Will Set You Free (2012)

9 Embers (2021)

10 Bigger Than Us (2019)

Yeah it’s getting boring now Amanda - you’re just spamming the thread at this point.

Omfg THIS!!! It's the only good one!! It needed punchier production and better performers and it coulda won.

Lucie is a great singer, but the song is a dire dirge.

‘Freaks’ should have definitely been chosen. It was catchy and quite memorable and Jordan wasn’t a bad performer either. It had good staging potential as well.
