There is no reason why he won't but I will be protesting outside the BBC if Lee Smithurst doesn't return to the UK Eurovision team following ESC 2022 and JESC 2022.

It's so weird that this song is having the typical UK "doing poor" Eurovision drop off when... if you played it on the radio and to people who didn't know what Eurovision was, they'd be bopping and streaming this. I don't understand how it's like it needs to be relying on Eurovision when it sounds like a big top 20 hit without the Eurovision tag.

The song isn't really my thing tbh I'll bop to it, but I don't go out of my way to play it, but I never do with these kinda British Euro-dance tracks (like Mabel, Ella Henderson, Becky Hill etc..) It's just odd to me that the British public seem so adverse to it just coz we finished 2nd last... SHEEP.

I don't think it would be a Top 20 hit without Eurovision. It had a boost when it was first released because people were curious but that dropped off quickly despite significant radio play and playlisting. You're right that people like success and people supported Sam whether they liked the song or not because he united the country and did something people thought was impossible.

I disagree (and I say that as someone who is impartial to it as a song). I definitely think it sounds right at home on UK radio and feels like one of those lingering Top 20 hits.
Several versions of the song have appeared in the iTunes chart now - they have about 11 mixes of the song, some are 59p they should just make them all that price and get some extra sales in.

I don't think it's having a typical UK doing poor drop off really. Until Saturday it was nowhere near as high on Spotify etc, it rose from the 100s to the top 40 I think on the Saturday and then rose to top 10 following the contest, it's now dropped back down but it's also dropped back down the playlists etc.

If the UK were averse to it because it finished second last then it wouldn't have risen to top 10 based on Sunday's streams? It peaked with media attention and playlist weight and now it's just dropping back down again, it feels quite normal to me? Sam last year was the exception and not the rule.

The thing is Spotify update the official Eurovision playlist to reflect the final results after their announcement so Mae Muller dropped from 2nd to 25th in the playlist overnight - I think that explains her 9–24 drop today more than anything

I know some new releases take a while to get noticed and chart but this one had significant promotion and debuted at #30 then dropped like a stone. It's popularity wasn't that organic which is why it has dropped after the contest but it's still doing better than our songs before 2022. You could say it's the loud minority but a lot of people said they didn't like the song before the contest and a bad result isn't going to make them want to listen to it now. That's just what happens unfortunately.

Not me properly liking the song, finally, days after the Final! Well, better late then never.

What are the differences between the "Video Version" and the "Eurovision Song Contest Edit"? Are there any? They seem the same to me but maybe I'm missing something.

I don't think there are any. I guess they just retagged it for ease of searching. Weird both remain available though.
I would argue that Molly - Children of the Universe would have done quite extremely well had it followed Sam this year

She was predicted to do well. The song was good but it was her static lifeless performance and staging that let it down.

To be fair it is hard to compare when you have a different pool of songs in the final.
listening to the chart show for the first time in forever, best be top 10!
