It failed to reach the top 100 in her own country. U8D9xCBcfzw
March 20, 20232 yr 'Enter Sandman' is definitely my highlight from that trio *.* still can't quite believe that Bill Bailey danced to it on Strictly Come Dancing
March 20, 20232 yr All of those are fab, 'Acapella' being a chart topper for me. Great comeback at the time and my mum has been playing 'Daydream Believer' a lot recently lol. I like both their big hits but probably prefer DB tbh.
March 20, 20232 yr I actually like all of the songs in the top-50, except for Sowing the Seeds of Love. I like ‘Acapella’ too, but it’s just weaker than the rest of the pack. I’m a bit surprised that Metallica and Monkees ended this high in the end!
March 21, 20232 yr Enter Sandman and Daydream Believer, what a duo :cheeseblock: THIS! 'Acapella' was OK but nowhere near Kelis' best.
March 21, 20232 yr Didn't occur to me that 'Daydream Believer' was literally the only representation for pre-80s! That is a nice song but I've always preferred 'I'm A Believer' out of the two believer-themed Monkees hits  'Enter Sandman' easily the best of today's batch, an absolute classic :cheeseblock: I liked 'Acapella' a lot at the time but I'm not sure how well I'd say it's aged really, not that I dislike it now or anything but I think #30 is a tad too high for it. (although having said that, that's only a couple of places higher than I myself ranked it so I guess it's about right, just feels wrong to see it above the likes of Metallica)

It was her fourth top 10 hit. 6xckBwPdo1c

It spent seven weeks in the top 20 before reaching its peak position. fUYaosyR4bE

March 21, 20232 yr That's my entire bottom 11 out now ^_^ Naïve is the third out from my top 8 though - it was the first song I downloaded. Maybe I'm nostalgic for a time when there was more guitar-based music in the charts, but even if Naïve isn't the happiest song, there was such a bright optimism to that era which I still enjoy.
March 21, 20232 yr That’s 6 of my top 10 out now  ‘Babooshka’ is brilliantly bonkers and she commands the video too *.*
March 21, 20232 yr I liked 'Not Fair' at the time but it really aged like milk for me, it's quite tacky in retrospect and probably would now say it's my least favourite of Lily's hits. Just realised that the song I ranked last just behind it hasn't dropped out yet either. Still have 8 of my top 10 in though I think! 'Naïve' is great and one of the best songs from the landfill indie era for me. Only really become familiar with 'Babooshka' recently but also very good if not quite one of Kate's best for me.
March 21, 20232 yr Surprised to see I didn't put Naive in my bottom 3 - find it very annoying. Sad to lose Acapella and in particular You'll See (which is infinitely better than the two Madonna #5s I didn't know prior to this rate, which mercifully went out earlier). But neither is exactly an all-time classic so it feels like they've still done pretty well overall. Starting to get nervous about how well Levitating might have done. For an artist I quite like, who's done a few songs I love, I can't stand it and am bemused how it seems to be one of her most-liked songs!
March 21, 20232 yr 'Not Fair' is a genius song, and what a great concept for the video too. 'Naive' has been played to death in the years since its release but it's definitely one of the best songs of its time. Was 'Babooshka' really my 1 pointer? I don't mind the song so I guess it just shows how much I liked the rest!
March 21, 20232 yr Ouch! Two of my top 10 including my favourite gone today (Not Fair and Naïve) but still 6 candidates in the top 10 left in tact which is double that of my bottom 10. Amazing how close it has all been so far. Also 'Strong Enough' shocked me finishing last.
March 21, 20232 yr Actually forgot how good Not Fair is, watching the video now has reminded me. Should probably have ranked it 10 or so places higher in hindsight.
