I listened to Redcar once and even that was a struggle, although Rien Dire is a highlight. Was such a disappointment, particularly coming after the perfection of an EP that was La Vita Nuova.

I’m sure he said around the time of Redcar that this was more commercial, so I am still intrigued. Definitely wouldn’t have expected one Madonna collab, let alone three!

to be honest is an immediate step-up, I’m back in!

Agree about Redcar, I took a few highlights from it but never listened to the album all the way through again. This sounds better and I'm intrigued by a 3-disc album!

Yep sadly Redcar was not a good album. I wanted to love it so much but it was just a struggle, but hey everyone is allowed the odd misstep I guess.

The quality of his first two albums and the EP more than earn my excitement for this. To Be Honest is a decent enough introduction and the features on the album are very intriguing, I'm here for all of them.

The 070 Shake collabs make sense as Chris had a feature on 070's last album but Madonna making multiple appearances is a bit random!

To be honest has clicked with me massively this past 2 weeks. That striking emotive chorus with the ad libs at the end  Not quite as into the 070 Shake collab though

Full Of Life <333 Great use of a very overused sample...

I've only listened to the first disc so far but that alone is 100 times better than the Redcar project. Track 10 is an experience, and I'm really enjoying Tears can be so soft, good single choice.

It's superb! The outro of track 10 - listening through headphones - was so good. The production on the first disc is amazing.

The second disc standouts for me were True love and Aimer, puis vivre. Quite liking the Madonna spoken word songs too, but they're not among the album's main high points for me.

The third disc didn't hit me as much overall but Lick The Light Out and To Be Honest are great.

This is such a huge return to form, trying to find a way to justify £20 for the CD, I'm sure I'll cave in eventually.

This album cements Chris as one of our finest performance artists — I know some people would rather Chris the popstar, but this is an insanely impressive record. It's sprawling, stunning, and challenging — but so rewarding once you go with it. The production is so cinematic and grand — it's hard not to get swept up in it all.

Whew!

Yeah I agree that this is definitely a return to form. I don't need all 90 minutes plus of it but I haven't yet worked out which tracks to cut. I'm finding myself drawn a lot to He's been shining forever, your son
^There's an abridged version of the album on Spotify with less track
I can't see it on the UK site - but is it the same as the abridged vinyl? If so, that's the other way and is too short
